Does Namebench recommend DNS servers only in IPv4 format?

I'm using Windows 7 with latest updates.

I was able to set the DNS addresses for IPv4 using the IP addresses. The box is segmented for the four sections of an IP address.

The Properties window for IPv6 is different.
  • The box for the IP address of the DNS accepts plain text. It does not have four fields the way it does of IPv4.
  • When I enter the Preferred DNS address in all formats unsuccessfully. When try to I move the cursor to the Alternate box, a bubble says, The network address entered is invalid.
  • I tried all three formats: IP address (12.127.17.71), Hostname (dns-rs1.bgtmo.ip.att.net) and Description (Wtechlink/Pacinfo/AT&T-2 US).
As a result, I've set my IPv4 settings in accordance with the Namebench recommendation; but for IPv6, I've re-checked the radio button for "Obtain DNS server address automatically."

I was in the same situation you were, here's what I found.
