Till last week, I was an admirer of the renowned Upanyasakartha Sri. Velukodi.  However, an incident that happened at Sri Ramar Koil, Ramnagar, Coimbatore (he is conducting Mahabaratham Upanyasam at Ramarkoil from Dec 15 to Jan 15), shattered my admiration and I am compelled to say, I do not consider him worthy of conducting Upanyasam of any kind.  

Well, what is this incident that caused so much grief?

Ayyappan Puja Sangham, Ramnagar, Coimbatore conducted their Annual Ayyappan Puja Festival in the last week of December, 2013; and one of the events was "Sri. Sudharshana Homam".  Representatives of the Managing Committee of Ayyappan Puja Sangham, approached Sri. Velukodi, to grace the Sudharshana Homam event and say a few words about the Mahima of Sri Sudharshana Homam.  Sri Velukodi's response: "I DO NOT VISIT SAIVITE SHRINES".

I could not believe my ears when I heard his reason.  Has he forgotten that Sri. Ayyappan is sakshad "Hariharan".   To add insult to injury, he stays with Saivites, and takes Biksha from Saivite mami, after she has offered Naivaydyam to Lord Siva.  

And, on Pradosham day, a Purdah was put up on the West side verandah of Ramar Koil Hall (Sri. Velukodi is conducting Upanyasam in the Hall), as Abhishekam was being performed to Lord Siva and the chanting of Sri. Rudram would have been a intereference to ?????

I earnestly request fellow Pattars to share this to all Saivites via Email, Twitter, Facebook, etc; so that we do not continue to bear further insult to both Saivite and Vaishnavaite deities, by so called Learned Personalities.  

This is not meant to hurt anyone's feelings or beliefs; but an attempt at awakening us from blind acceptance.  Each one is entitled to his own beliefs, but a Public personality owes a responsibility to his followers, that he does not hurt their sentiment in public.  This, though does not take away from the fact that such belief itself has no place in our world.

Sri Sadashiva Brahmendral was a yogi who was always immersed in the Brahman.

His compositions is very short ones yet it convey deep philosophical messages.

In this composition he request everyone to travel their mind to the Brahman with the help of Krishna's Image.

We have presented the lyrics with meaning and the music link, a melodious singing by Sri P. Unnikrishnan.
