GENEVA MINISTERIAL A “UNIQUE OCCASION” TO SEND STRONG SIGNALS ON WTO ISSUES - LAMY
Director-General Pascal Lamy, in his report to the General Council on 17 November 2009, said that while the upcoming WTO Ministerial Conference would not be a negotiating session, it would be “a platform for ministers to review the functioning of this house,” including the Doha Round, and an occasion “to send a number of strong signals to the world with respect to the entire WTO waterfront of issues - from monitoring and surveillance to disputes, accessions, Aid for Trade, technical assistance and international governance”.

Dans le rapport qu’il a fait au Conseil général le 17 novembre 2009, le Directeur général Pascal Lamy a dit que même si la prochaine Conférence ministérielle de l’OMC ne serait pas une session de négociation, elle serait “une plateforme permettant aux Ministres d’examiner le fonctionnement de cette maison”, y compris le Cycle de Doha ainsi qu’une occasion “d’envoyer un certain nombre de signaux forts au monde entier sur l’ensemble des questions OMC - suivi et surveillance, différends, accessions, Aide pour le commerce, assistance technique et gouvernance internationale”.

En su informe rendido al Consejo General el 17 de noviembre de 2009, el Director General Pascal Lamy dijo que, si bien la próxima Conferencia Ministerial de la OMC no sería una reunión de negociación, sí sería una “plataforma para que los Ministros examinen el funcionamiento de esta casa”, incluida la Ronda de Doha, y una ocasión para “transmitir al mundo varias señales claras sobre el conjunto de las cuestiones abarcadas por la OMC, desde la supervisión y vigilancia, hasta las diferencias, las adhesiones, la Ayuda para el Comercio, la asistencia técnica y la gobernanza mundial”.
