Negotiating for social justice: collective bargaining in times of crisis
This year marks the 60th anniversary of ILO Convention No. 98 on the Right to Organize and Collective Bargaining. While much has changed since the Convention was adopted in 1949, collective bargaining remains a fundamental right, an important tool to improve incomes and working conditions, and advance social justice. ILO Online spoke with Susan Hayter, senior ILO industrial relations expert, about recent trends and innovations in collective bargaining worldwide, including responses to the economic crisis, to be discussed at an ILO meeting in Geneva this week.

La concertation au service de la justice sociale: la négociation collective en période de crise
Cette année marque le 60e anniversaire de la convention (no 98) de l'OIT sur le droit d'organisation et de négociation collective. Si les choses ont beaucoup évolué depuis l'adoption de cette convention en 1949, la négociation collective demeure un droit fondamental et un outil précieux pour améliorer les revenus et les conditions de travail et faire avancer la justice sociale. BIT en ligne s'est entretenu avec Susan Hayter, spécialiste en matière de relations professionnelles au BIT, sur les récentes tendances et innovations dans le domaine de la négociation collective à l'échelle mondiale, y compris dans le contexte de la crise économique; ces questions seront débattues lors d'une réunion de l'OIT à Genève cette semaine.
