AGRICULTURE NEGOTIATORS PREPARE TO RESUME AFTER STOCKTAKING
Chairperson David Walker told negotiators on 3 May 2010 that he would adapt his plans for the farm talks later this month, to take into account their suggestions. The 3 May meeting was the first time agriculture negotiators had met since the end-of-March “stocktaking” sessions in the Doha Round, and was intended as an opportunity to discuss how the farm talks should proceed.

CANADA ELIMINATES TARIFFS ON MANUFACTURING INPUTS AND MACHINERY
Canada announced at the meeting of the Committee on Market Access on 29 April 2010 that it had become a tariff-free zone for manufacturing inputs and machinery. It said it was committed to maintaining open markets to help the global economy recover, adding that this unilateral action would help raise the competitiveness of Canadian companies.

LES NÉGOCIATEURS DANS LE DOMAINE DE L’AGRICULTURE SE PRÉPARENT À REPRENDRE LES DISCUSSIONS APRÈS AVOIR FAIT LE BILAN
Le Président David Walker a dit aux négociateurs le 3 mai 2010 qu’il adapterait ses plans concernant les négociations sur l’agriculture ultérieurement ce mois-ci, pour tenir compte de leurs suggestions.  C’est à la réunion du 3 mai que les négociateurs se sont revus pour la première fois après les séances de la fin de mars consacrées au  “bilan” dans le cadre du Cycle de Doha, réunion qui était censée permettre de discuter de la manière dont les pourparlers sur l’agriculture devraient se poursuivre.

LE CANADA ÉLIMINE LES DROITS DE DOUANE SUR LES INTRANTS MANUFACTURIERS ET LES MACHINES
À la réunion du Comité de l’accès aux marchés du 29 avril 2010, le Canada a annoncé qu’il était devenu zone de libre-échange pour les intrants manufacturiers et les machines.  Il a dit qu’il était déterminé à maintenir l’ouverture des marchés pour aider au redressement économique mondial, en ajoutant que cette mesure unilatérale contribuerait à renforcer la compétitivité des sociétés canadiennes.

LOS ENCARGADOS DE LAS NEGOCIACIONES SOBRE LA AGRICULTURA SE PREPARAN PARA REANUDARLAS DESPUÉS DEL BALANCE
El 3 de mayo de 2010, El Presidente David Walker dijo a los negociadores que adaptaría sus planes para las negociaciones sobre la agricultura que se celebrarán este mes a fin de tener en cuenta las sugerencias que habían formulado. La reunión del 3 de mayo fue la primera vez en que los encargados de las negociaciones sobre la agricultura se reunían desde el “balance” de la Ronda de Doha que se celebró a finales de marzo y tenía por objetivo dar oportunidades para debatir la forma en que deben proseguir las negociaciones sobre la agricultura.

EL CANADÁ ELIMINA LOS ARANCELES A LOS INSUMOS MANUFACTUREROS Y LA MAQUINARIA
En la reunión del Comité de Acceso a los Mercados celebrada el 29 de abril de 2010, el Canadá anunció que se había convertido en una zona libre de aranceles para los insumos manufactureros y la maquinaria. Dijo que estaba comprometido a mantener abiertos los mercados para contribuir a la recuperación de la economía mundial y añadió que esta medida unilateral ayudaría a aumentar la competitividad de las empresas canadienses.
