Unfortunatelyit's not writing a log file in "%temp%." Until yesterday, it used to, but now not so much. We tried both the INSTALL NOW from the
manage.autodesk.com Website and the Autodesk Desktop Installer app.
Our IT department tried their best, but it stumped them, too. So we did a complete uninstall and tried to reinstall. During the installation, when the percentage wheel was going, it would get up to anywhere from 87% to 95% complete, then stop, unwind, and declare the installation a failure, with error code 1603.
I guess the next step is to wipe her computer's hard drive clean and start over. It will be painful, but she has not been able to use AutoCAD for a week now, and and using AutoCAD 95% of her job, and is part of the critical path to production in the Company.
Normally error code 1603 should be an error code from windows installer. If you can't find log files in the %temp% it is possible, that the log file creation of this msi package is not enabled as default.
Yes, that is what I'm looking for. Is it possible to get the "Autodesk_AutoCAD_Private_2022_install.log" from you, that I can check in detail ? But in the log file are confidential information (Serial number, license server, etc...) so may be it is better, that you send me the log file via e-mail. If this is an option for you, I will send you a private message with my e-mail Address.
under the condition, that currently there is no AutoCAD 2022 or any other Autodesk product installed on that pc, you should not have the file C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Adlm\ProductInformation.pit.
Because if AutoCAD 2022 does a successful uninstall and no other Autodesk product is installed and registered the file is deleted, because during the uninstall the AutoCAD installer makes an "unregister".
But if you get the same error, next step is to install AutoCAD without the "licRegister" custom action during the install. Then AutoCAD should install. After we try to manually register with the "license helper" from Autodesk.
I am having issues with installing my AutoCAD LT 2020 to my computer. It installs until 8 of 11 remaining then stops and brings up the message fatal error:1603. There was articles on the subject but I don't understand were to input all the information or how to fix the problem.
Posting info: Sometimes the installation log file contains the serial # that was assigned to you. Open your log file using Windows Notepad and perform a search on "/SN". Depending on the number of installation attempts, your serial # may be located throughout the log file. If present, remove or "X" out your serial # prior to posting.
Go here C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing and right mouse click on the uninstaller that's there and select to run as admin. Once the licensing service is uninstalled, reboot your machine and try the installation again.
If you follow the steps under 'For all other error codes, please follow the below steps:' Then your issue should be fixed, if you have any further issues reply back and we'll look further into it.
Even though errors 1603 and 1619 are notoriously vague, their variants are fairly well documented by Autodesk and the Autodesk community and can be addressed by resolving the offending installer package.
Though I was quite certain that the version of DirectX that I had installed was the required version, I followed through with the necessary steps in an attempt to mitigate that error and ensure that I ultimately practiced what I always preach regarding due diligence. Specifically, I browsed the media folder (D:3rdPartyDirectX) and installed DirectX manually via the DXSETUP.EXE. Thereupon I attempted to reinstall AutoCAD Architecture (ACA 2013) but was met with the same failure and the same error codes.

Usually, PC practitioners and support staff know A fatal error occurred during installation as a form of "runtime error". To make sure that the functionality and operations are all working in a usable condition, software developers like Autodesk Inc. do debugging before software releases. Sadly, some critical issues such as error 1603 can often be overlooked.
Error 1603 is also displayed as "A fatal error occurred during installation. Error 1603 is a generic error generated by the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) indicating that a problem occurred during the installation of your Autodesk product. This error is not specific to any particular". It is a common error that might occur after installation of the software. If A fatal error occurred during installation occurs, developers will be told about that issue though error reporting built-into the application. Autodesk Inc. then would need to correct these errors in the master source code and provide a modified version for downloading. As a result, the developer can use update packages for AutoCAD accessible from their website (or automatic download) to resolve these error 1603 problems and other errors.
A failure during the execution of AutoCAD is generally when you will encounter A fatal error occurred during installation as a runtime error. We are going to review at the key causes of error 1603 errors:
Error 1603 Crash - This is a common error 1603 runtime error that results in the program completely terminating. When AutoCAD cannot provide sufficient output to the given input, or doesn't really know what to output, it will often confuse the system in this manner.
A fatal error occurred during installation Memory Leak - When a AutoCAD Memory leak occurs, this can result in the device running slow due to system resources running short. A potential factor of the error is Autodesk Inc.'s code since the error prevents the program from ending.
Error 1603 Logic Error - A logic error happens when AutoCAD produces wrong output from the right input. The culprit in this case is usually a flaw in Autodesk Inc. source code that handles the input incorrectly.
Autodesk Inc. problems with A fatal error occurred during installation most often stem from a corrupt or missing AutoCAD file. The primary way to resolve these problems manually is to replace the Autodesk Inc. file with a fresh copy. Additionally, some A fatal error occurred during installation errors can be due to incorrect registry references, so we recommend conducting a registry scan to clean up any invalid entries.
A fatal error occurred during installation EXE errors happen during AutoCAD installation, while running A fatal error occurred during installation-related applications (AutoCAD), during startup or shutdown, or during installation of Windows OS. When seeing the A fatal error occurred during installation error, please record occurrences to troubleshoot AutoCAD, and to help Autodesk Inc. find the cause.
If you use the Install Now option, you might think the installation freeze. Install Now will download the required files for installation then install the product on your computer. Depends on your internet connection speed, it may take a very long time. Sometimes people think it freezes and cancel the installation or kills the task. This can lead to another issue. Just let the installation run, even it might take overnight.
Some products (especially suites) consist of multiple files. I believe Autodesk separate the media into files so they can fit in multiple DVDs. It allows you to distribute the media without using an external drive.
Before we continue, you need to know the exact problem. You can find a detailed error in the installation log. If you are not familiar with the installation log, this documentation shows how to see the log. You can open the log file using Windows Notepad.
Your software depends on many Windows prerequisites. When the prerequisite installation failed, the installation will not continue. The most frequent prerequisite that failed is Microsoft Visual C++. Try to check the installation log file if you can find a line similar to this:
If you see it, you need to uninstall all Microsoft Visual C++ on your computer. You may see different versions of Microsoft Visual C++, uninstall them all. After you complete, try to install the product again.
There are many things that can make the installation fail. Autodesk products rely heavily on the operating system and their prerequisites. The problems listed here are just the problems I find on a regular basis on the Autodesk forum.

The error 1603 is a generic error code generated by Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) that indicates a problem during the installation. This error is more likely to be system-related than software-specific.
