OakDOT staff welcomes feedback via email to the contact information listed on this web page. This work is a long-term effort and feedback on the overall approach will be most helpful at this time. Location-specific questions and comments will generally be less helpful as we focus to establish the overall framework. Supporters may be disappointed at the speed at which the work is advancing. In contrast to the pandemic, this rollout is gradual and incremental. People who had concerns with the pandemic street closures may be relieved to know that work is proceeding slowly and incrementally, with a focus on speed humps, traffic circles, and determining the streets that are appropriate to become Slow Streets.

I like ArcGIS Pro. It is clearly a step forward in many ways. But why is it so slow for what are very simple things that should be nearly instantaneous. For example, if I want to adjust the symbology of something, ever single step causes the program to whir and think for about ten seconds, even when the layer is turned off! What exactly does it have to think about when the layer is not even rendering?

My data are local, although with one basemap loaded. Oddly, things are just as slow to respond when I turn off all the layers and pause all the maps. It still does something every time I interact with the program. Its almost like it redraws everything regardless of whether the map is paused or the layers turned off.

UPDATE: I've tried a few things on a few machines and I think I am onto something. At least with graphic elements in the layout the issue "SLOW REFRESH / RENDER" seems to be directly related to the amount of graphics in the layout; a few graphics will refresh reasonably fast, 200+ graphics which is average for a typical static legend refreshes MUCH slower. Create a copy of the legend in the same layout (What I would often do in ArcMap as a backup of the legend) and the selection/render/drawing will slow down accordingly with the increased amount of graphic elements. There is some very inefficient looping going on behind the scenes coupled with the curious fact that ALL graphic elements have a corresponding item in the TOC. Yes. I understand the intentions of being able to order things like layers in Adobe but having 100s of graphics constantly updating on screen and in the TOC is causing some issues. Adobe doesn't seem to have this issue. I didn't even get into re-doing some really complex geology maps with 1000s of graphics yet. Not looking forward to it. I will take a video capture documenting this observation and post.

Thanks Tom, this idea helped me find the issue that was causing the slow performance that so many people are mentioning here. Slowness issues making your project unusable just by selecting elements, refreshing layouts and maps, or adding data... I had one element in my content pane that only had 12 items named "Text" in incrementing order. I unchecked that element to turn if off and instantly everything started functioning properly. Any idea what could be behind this issue?

We also have the same problem with the new map viewer Everything seems to work fine in the old map viewer and/or web app builder. We started to use the new map viewer and experience builder because we wanted to group layers and make use of all the new widgets in EB. Now all of our bigger project running on the new map viewer and in Experience builder are so slow. I do not want to convert back to the old map viewer and webappbuilder, because we really like and find the new funcionalities in EB and new map viewer very useful.

Are you seeing Map Viewer behaving slow or Experience Builder? I checked the load times for the maps in Map Viewer and was seeing 3.5-4 seconds with both maps from the 2 different experience builder links. Map Viewer Classic was showing roughly 4-4.5 seconds for me.

Both, Experience Builder and the new map viewer are slow in mye opinion. Turning on and off sublayers, using the draw and print widgets. Working with the symbology, labels etc on the map layers, moving around in the map and more. For me this works so much quicker in the old web map and web app builder unfortunately.

Since last tuesday somewhere in the afternoon all of our devices suddenly started booting very slow, then during the night the problems slowly fade away and in the morning boot times are normal again (2-3 min) only to further slow down again the later we get in the day.

A typical Pernil recipe is slow roasted in the oven with a huge slab of fat on top, which gets crispy as it cooks. My lightened version, I use a boneless shoulder blade roast, trimmed of all the fat. This dish is easy enough to make as a weeknight meal.

A few extra steps are involved in making this stew, but I promise it is worth it. Once you cook the bacon and pan-sear the meat, you throw it all into the crockpot and let it do its thing. This meal is truly the best-flavored stew that I have ever had. I know that your family will love slow-cooker beef bourguignon just as much as we did!

Then, once the museum opened, young visitors (5-11 years old) were invited to go on a slow looking tour of a handful of paintings in the collection, led by museum staff, between 10:30 and 11:15 am. At 2 pm, adults were invited to do the same.

Participants arrived for the event and began slowly looking at the artwork, with questions and discussions organically began as everyone looked at the artwork. Having the artists present created a lot of additional excitement.

For their second Slow Art Day, the member-run non-profit gallery Artspace, in Richmond, Virginia, planned a simple approach for their event: start with a 5-minute meditation, followed by 5-minute slow looking at four chosen works currently hanging in the gallery, and a group discussion afterwards.

While the organizers had a clear plan for meditation, slow viewing and discussion, the participants decided to make some changes on the fly. For example, the first group of visitors skipped the meditation and jumped right in to looking at a large painting. Next, the participants decided to split up and slow look at one art work that they each chose. This did not quite follow the event plan, the organizers went with the flow of the group, and said it worked out even better than planned. Many Slow Art Day educators and hosts know that sometimes visitors take ideas into their own hands, which after all is the central mission of Slow Art Day.

*Cook time: Because slow cookers can vary significantly with temperature levels, I recommend checking the dip every 30 minutes or so to be sure that it does not accidentally overcook. Once the cheese is melted and slightly bubbly, it will be ready to go!

Made this tonight in my 8 quart slow cooker. Followed recipe except I added 5oz of crumbled feta cheese and I did not add salt or pepper. Also added 2 more cups of mozzarella. Came out SO creamy and cheesy. We all loved it and will be making again, so much better than a restaurant! I cooked on low for 2hrs and it was done. I also used 1tsp of minced garlic in the jar instead of 4 cloves.

The neoliberal university requires high productivity in compressed time frames. Though the neoliberal transformation of the university is well documented, the isolating effects and embodied work conditions of such increasing demands are too rarely discussed. In this article, we develop a feminist ethics of care that challenges these working conditions. Our politics foreground collective action and the contention that good scholarship requires time: to think, write, read, research, analyze, edit, organize, and resist the growing administrative and professional demands that disrupt these crucial processes of intellectual growth and personal freedom. This collectively written article explores alternatives to the fast-paced, metric-oriented neoliberal university through a slow-moving conversation on ways to slow down and claim time for slow scholarship and collective action informed by feminist politics. We examine temporal regimes of the neoliberal university and their embodied effects. We then consider strategies for slowing scholarship with the objective of contributing to the slow scholarship movement. This slowing down represents both a commitment to good scholarship, teaching, and service and a collective feminist ethics of care that challenges the accelerated time and elitism of the neoliberal university. Above all, we argue in favor of the slow scholarship movement and contribute some resistance strategies that foreground collaborative, collective, communal ways forward.
