The Peugeot 3008 is a compact crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Peugeot. It was first presented to the public in Dubrovnik, Croatia in 2008, and then again in 2010 at the Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris, by the French manufacturer Peugeot. It was launched in April 2009 as the successor to the Peugeot 4007 and Peugeot 4008, and it fills a gap in Peugeot's model lineup between the Peugeot 308, with which it shares its platform, and the Peugeot 5008, its larger counterpart.[1] The second-generation model, which is based on an EMP2 platform first seen on the second-generation Peugeot 308, was launched in 2016, with the vehicle being available as of January 2017. Originally, the Peugeot 3008 was developed with the Peugeot 5008, and as of February 2019 (2019-02), the 3008 was developed together with the Citron C5 Aircross, DS 7 Crossback and the Opel Grandland, sharing platforms and engines.

Launched in 2008, the 3008 shares its platform and bears similarity with the Peugeot 5008, which is a three-row MPV and larger counterpart of 3008. Despite having had its styling criticised, the 3008 has been praised by automobile magazines. In January 2010, the British motoring magazine What Car? awarded it Car of the Year for 2010. It also was awarded 2010 Semperit Irish Car of the Year in Ireland. The 3008 followed up this award in 2018, by winning the Continental Irish Car of the Year.

The Exclusive and Allure models have a head up display, which projects a reading onto a small perspex like screen just in front of the main windscreen area in front of the driver. It also contains a distance alert, which warns the driver if they are too close to the car in front. It also displays details for cruise control or the speed limiter.

The crossover hybrid has four different operating modes: Auto (the electronics automatically control the entire system), ZEV (all electric), four wheel drive mode (4WD) and sport (higher engine speeds than normal mode). A 200v nickel-metal hydride (Ni/MH) battery pack is located in the rear.[6]

The second generation 3008 was announced by Peugeot in May 2016, and was first presented to the public at the Paris Motor Show in September 2016. Its design allows the vehicle to come into contention with large competitors in the C segment market of SUVs, which has been a prominent market in the past years. Sales of the second generation 3008 began with the model year of 2017, at the end of 2016.

It features Peugeot's new iCockpit, which is an improved design compared to the current iCockpit featured in the Peugeot 208, Peugeot 2008 and Peugeot 308. The second generation was introduced on 23 May 2016. Features include an eight inch touch screen to the centre console, a 12.3 inch customisable heads up display, and the small style steering wheel, which has become standard in all current models of Peugeot.

Production started in 2016, with sales starting in January 2017. 100,000 orders were made in Europe between October 2016 and March 2017, half of them were made by people who did not own a Peugeot.[17]

A facelift was unveiled on 1 September 2020 for the 2021 model year.[18] Featuring new front end styling, resembling that of the New 208 and New 508, increased technology, refreshed interior with an enlarged touchscreen and revised rear lighting.

In March 2017, the new 3008 won European Car of the Year 2017, by a jury of 58 motoring journalists from twenty two European countries. The award came the same day that the PSA Group announced a $2.3 billion deal to buy GM's Opel division. Opel's Astra won the Car of the Year in 2016, reacted with these two awards within two years, the Peugeot Group CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato said, "This is an alliance of winners".[22]

The third generation 3008 was officially revealed on 12 September 2023, sales commenced in February 2024 for the mild-hybrid versions and the electrified versions are due in the second half of the year. It is the first vehicle to based on the Stellantis' SLTA Medium platform. The e-3008 versions are manufactured exclusively at the PSA Sochaux Plant, along with its battery pack.[24][25]

Compared to its predecessors, the third generation 3008 had evolved into a coupe SUV with aerodynamic shape at (Cx 0.28). There are the brand's signature 'Claw Effect' lighting front and rear using Peugeot's new Pixel LED lighting technology, an enlarged logo on grille, and the traditional slope of the fastback car with a floating spoiler inspired by the Quartz Concept.[24][25]

The 3008 is the first model to feature Peugeot's Panoramic i-Cockpit that combines curved 21-inch HD panoramic screen that combines the head-up display, driver's instrument cluster and the central touchscreen into a single piece. There is an extra touchscreen for the iToggles ten customisable touchscreen shortcut buttons. Other items include touch-sensitive steering wheel controls with a tactile clicking feature and the gear selector has been moved to the dashboard.[25][26]

This is the petrol-mild-hybrid version of the all-new Peugeot 3008. A crucial player in the midsize family crossover game, with a rather delightful cabin. At least for the people in front. Hey, parents deserve some privileges in return for the years of sleepness nights and mopping up the infants' sick.

So then, a rival for the huge-selling Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage and Ford Kuga. But it feels more premium than that, letting it take aim at the lower-engine editions of the Audi Q3s and Mini Countrymans (Countrymen?) of this world.

The old Peugeot 3008 helped turn Peugeot around, thanks to striking design and what was in its day a fine interior. Still is actually. This new one doesn't tear up those themes, but develops them. Existing owners will move to the new generation smoothly.

Peugeot always says it makes drivers' cars. Well yeah, but this isn't powerful, so a sprint to 62mph occupies 10.2 of your seconds. But the new powertrain is vastly quieter than Peugeot's outgoing 1.2, and less laggy at low revs. It's also properly civilised in stop-go traffic.

As for the rest of the dynamics, this is a solid effort. Again Peugeot's commitment to the driver shows up. It steers urgently. But there are compromises when that aim meets this tall car. The steering is numb, the body rocks and pitches, and the ride's jiggly at B-road speeds.

Peugeot hasn't allowed the dimensions to balloon, so it's the same size outside as the old one. Rear legroom isn't huge, but because you sit high with your legs tucked under it doesn't feel too cramped. The fastback doesn't hurt headroom either, and there are some handy storage spaces.

The huge curved screen screen and switchgear system is a development of Peugeot's i-Toggle system, and it's easy to use. The teenagers will be useful in setting up its many customisable layouts and shortcuts.

For an all-new start, the 3008 doesn't feel like a revolution. For many, that'll be a win. Design and cabin are evolved and improved from what was a strong base. The curved screen is a big talking point (literally), and genuinely useful. But taller families might want more rear space.

The 3008 is refined and quiet and rides well, and is easygoing over long distances. The cabin beats the Germans for perceived quality, yet it's interesting and progressive, while easy to use. No shock tactics.

ALL-ELECTRIC RANGE UP TO 326 miles WLTP(i) Official Fuel Consumption in MPG (l/100km) and CO2 emissions (g/km) for the E-3008 73kWh are: Combined N/A (N/A) and CO2 0g/km. Equivalent All Electric Range: 326 miles. The electric range achieved in real world conditions will depend upon a number of factors including, but not limited to: the accessories fitted (pre and post registration); the starting charge of the battery; variations in weather; driving styles and vehicle load. The E-3008 is a battery electric vehicle requiring mains electricity for charging. The WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure) is used to measure fuel consumption, electric range and CO2 figures.
