Proposal for Meeting in the coming semester (Jan-May 2009)

I propose holding a meeting in January 2009 to take stock of the
forum's current membership and plan events for the upcoming semester.

Furthermore, several students have interned with advocates over the
November-December 2008 holiday. I think we can organise an experience
sharing meeting where we can discuss cases we worked on and the
general work atmosphere in the chambers we interned at.

Not only would the existing members benefit, but the junior batches
who have yet to intern with advocates would get a fair idea as to who
they would like to work with in their internships.

Moreover, we can form a database of advocates (primarily including
their contact address, phone number and email IDs) so that we can
provide an accurate information source for those who would like to
apply for internships there.

Finally, experience-sharing session can also lead to a discussion on
lawyers we would like to invite to our university for lectures/
discussions.

I believe this exercise will help spread awareness of current legal
issues and inculcate interest in litigation.

Hey!

I hope all of you are having a great time. We shall be having a meeting as soon as possible in January. I have spoken to a couple of Judges, and Mr. Salman Khurshid. Most probably, I will go and meet Mr. Ram Jethmalani next week, and talk to him about the Forum. I suggest all of us talk to the lawyers who we are interning with, or know, and at least find out whether they will be interested.

A database of lawyers may not be needed, as we already have the SC Advocates Directory, which is usually found on Anil sir's desk. Though we may work together and get a soft copy of these details. 

Sharing our experiences is not a bad idea. Lets get back to the University and start some serious work.
