Nicely done! Love the picture. We'll meet next week to decide about Diwali, I'm also going to buy some supplies, candles etc and spike busters, aux wire etc from home and get this reimbursed since our wonderful college makes it so hard for us to access small sums of money

 

If you guys need music for the open dance floor ask Veera or Malvika, 2nd year, they have the playlist from this freshers and Veera is also generally interested in sitting by the lap top and playing the music (unless of course any of you want to do it, its just that you can dance and have a good time as well if you'll take turns :) )

Hi 

There have been some issues. We have been informed that the intro moot oral rounds are to be held, one session before dinner and one after. So the first years can't perform, The fourth years who were performing require another group to also perform else they do not want to perform. Shreshtha from the 4th year spoke to me and expressed her disappointment that the first years won't be performing. I apologise that I didn't tell you guys about the intro moot oral rounds, my only defence is that we were told earlier that it would be held right after our classes and that the first years performing had told me that they would be ready. The question that Priyank and I want to ask you guys is: should we keep only open floor or cancel dance night?

Do you guys think enough people will turn up for the open dance floor? If not, we can have dance night first week of Jan and go ahead with our Diwali bonfire thingy sometime next week (for which we will also have music on speakers and therefore dancing)

 

But if there is enough demand for an open dance floor this Friday, then go ahead with it. Talk to people from your batches and see what they think. I'm guessing first years are going to be mostly preoccupied with the intro moot. So maybe scrap it for this sem? Navomi what do you think?

my batch isn't interested and nobody is ready to put up a performance so i think we should stick to the diwali bonfire thing and lets have the dance night in the beginning of the next sem.

I agree. As if lack of enthusiasm from batches wasn't enough, I received an angry call from Prof. Santhy who was highly upset with the idea of a dance night. Even my batch has paper submissions lined up And I don't see enthusiasm. Even Priyanka and Shreshtha for whom the whole event was postponed are unwilling to perform "if there is no other performance."
So, in light of these facts, I think we shouldn't have a dance night, rather than organizing a bad one.

Oh sorry about that. I just saw the mails now. My batch people are super enthused about the open dance floor and i know they'll be disappointed if it's cancelled. 
I never knew a time when people didn't turn up for a dj night. 

But you guys are handling it, if you think it's not gonna work out, then chuck it. But I feel that if at all it's possible, have it.

They might? Will talk to them again tomorrow. And then send any mail in this regard. Moreover, Prof. Santhy wishes to talk to VC in this regard, as to why were the wardens not consulted in granting this permission. I hope this does not result in problems in getting permission for bonfire night.

wardens needn't be consulted wrt permission, but a copy of the letter is to be sent to them. Is she really going to talk to the VC? :/

Also Aditi, yes the notices were duly sent to the wardens. That's how she came to know about this and was angry because she wants to spend the weekend with her family And not policing us. I said that she is not required to be present anyway, but apparently it's some unsaid rule set by admin. Basically she was upset with admin than us, but she needed to vent out her anger.
Anyway, all is sorted now.
