Not too many things in nature are as beautiful as the falling of the first snow of the year. Then, reality sets in. But before you have time to complain, to dread the shoveling and the slush, you see the world inside of a snow globe. It is quite, magical, serene.
That morning, I could hardly talk my kids into eating breakfast, they were shaking with anticipation. After a forced breakfast, I bundled them up and getting myself prepared for the cold. Luckily, it was one of those perfect winter days. Fresh snow, just below freezing, with no wind and bright sunshine. Thankfully, I kept a pair of snow pants from a sky trip many years earlier. So, I was all set for the cold.
I have been using thus perfume for a couple of years now. I first got a gift set with miniatures of each for Christmas, and I haven't looked back since. It is a very unique smell. It doesn't aggravate my senses or allergies. It is warm yet refreshing.
Faced not only with living independently for the first time, but also having to get past her nerves to find new friends in an unfamiliar environment, she finds herself falling in with a group of eccentric writers and artists.
First Snow is a prequel spinoff of the visual novel Twofold, focused on Allison and Eileen's first months in community college in the leadup to Christmas, and the many varied people who surround them.
The first snow of the 23-24 season appeared last night at Brian Head Resort with 1-2 inches overnight blanketing the base and peak. Transforming the landscape into a white blanket amidst the fall leaves. This inaugural snowfall marked the beginning of an enchanting season filled with snowy escapades and the promise of countless memorable moments.
Here are the median dates of the first measurable snowfall of the season in Illinois. This map is based on 1971-2000 data. While it is not based on the current 1981-2010 averages, the map is still relevant for the purpose of getting an idea of the dates. Measurable snowfall means at least a tenth of an inch.
In the northern third of Illinois, the first snowfall usually occurs around Thanksgiving. The dates move from November to December once you reach central Illinois (just north of a line between Quincy and Champaign). By the time you reach Carbondale, the date can be as late as December 20.
In about 10 percent of the cases, the first measurable snow occurred as early as November 5 in northern Illinois to November 20 in far southern Illinois.
In about 10 percent of the cases, the first measurable snow occurred as late as December 20 in northern Illinois. South of a line from Quincy to Champaign (Interstate 72), it can occur after the New Year. From Carbondale southward, Illinois, it can be January 20th before the first snow arrives.
I always look forward to the first good snowfall of the deer season. Snow on the ground not only makes the deer easy to see against the white background it also makes for easy tracking. The story of where the deer moved and what they did is very evident in new snow. So when we got 6 inches of snow on November 26 I was out in the woods, not hunting, just looking, yet anxious to find and follow the trail of one of the bucks in the area.
Wow, summer person that I am, I must admit that snow (and snow days!!!) are always something to look forward too! Hmm perhaps not in April as we experienced here this year but they can make the kid in you reappear!!!!!Congratulations! ?
There are many places you can enjoy snow in Tohoku during late Dec. As stated on one of your other posts you can go for snow monsters in Mt Moriyoshi while you are in Akita if your trip extends into Jan or go to see them in Zao-san.
In Aomori a side trip to Hakkoda-san would surely let you see lots of snow, especially if you take a ride up the Hakkoda Ropeway. Again if the trip extends into Jan there is a chance of seeing snow monsters there!
