While sculpting, areas might be hidden behind parts of the mesh or they might be too close to other parts. To work through these, it is useful to isolate parts of a mesh to sculpt on. This can be done by either completely hiding parts of the mesh or by masking areas that can not be sculpted on.
I used this daily for 2 weeks and was discouraged at first, because I didn't really notice any improvement. I'm nearing 40 and my main concerns are the pesky nasolabial lines , cheeks that are starting to sag and form pre-jowls, and puffiness along the jawline. I didn't see noticeable results until after a month of daily use, and now I've been using the wand for almost 2 months. I can see a difference in my jawline, which is no longer puffy. My face looks more toned overall and the appearance of the pre-jowls has improved. This device works and is worth it, and I'm glad I gave it some time.
The sculpting wand drains lymphatic fluid right out of my face, relieves jaw tension, and has even helped my headaches. My forehead is smoother, it de-puffs my eyes and SNATCHES my jaw/cheekbones. I love using it after a night out or a travel day. This is such a great way to get studio facial results at home or on the go.
Hello there. Been using Rhino for a while now, and so far it has provided with everything I need for my design work.
One thing I would like to ask however, is if a basic sculpting module will be available on version 8, or maybe as a Grasshopper style plugin, in the future.
well, to be fair we have SoftTransform which is a very basic sculpting tool. but the handling is compared to probably any other package out there very unintuitive. having to select a vertice point then adjusting a radius and moving it unconstrained in any direction is as goofy and as it can get. not to say very tedious having to repeat that process of selecting a new point to sculpt each time.
in c4d and probably others which have sculpting tools built in it would work like a brush, and by simply brushing over it either inflates deflated or amplifies structure etc. usually constrained in the normal direction of the brushed polygons which is completely missing in rhino.
one could argue if Rhino style which comes more from a CAD direction is really that bad, but a vertice normal constraint at least then would be very helpful. but honestly brushing is definitely the way to go since sculpting is not a precise CAD kind of thing obviously.
It looks unusual because while they're dark you can still see a bit of color on them. If there are some faces that are completely black you can try going to Mesh Display-> Reverse Normals.
As for your other issue, if your mesh has any non manifold geometry then this can make sculpting an issue. Maya is pointing to one of the hairs on the side of your character that is a triangle but only has 2 edges I'm not sure how but the bottom edge somehow got deleted.
The same issue has happened to me multiple times and I have finally found out what is causing the issue. I have been messing around and found if you are repeatedly beveling faces and mirroring the object it is causing the problem. After about the third time mirroring and beveling a face in between each mirror the beveled faces turn black in smooth shade while sculpting. Hope that helps.
I was also having this issue - I fixed it in 2 ways. 1) If there is just one or two faces I would delete and then remake those faces. 2) If that did not work I would lop that part of (eg hand, foot ect..) Export it as an OBJ and turn off everything under "File Type Specific Options" and then reimport the object. This problem is very random and cannot find a pattern to it with my work flows.

I got a few responses talking about how blender isnt that powerful. And those sorts of works are really only capable in zbrush. They also said that no matter how powerful your computer is, blender simply wont reach those levels due to the software itself.
So i was just wondering since nomad is specifically designed for sculpting but more so comes on less powerful devices atleast compared to desktops or gaming laptops. and blender while powerful only has a smaller dedicated sculpt area and cant reach zbrush levels even if both programs were used on the same device. Then is nomad sculpt and blender expected to be the same in sculpting capabilities and limitations?
I cant really find proper comparisons between nomad and blender and i also heard that blender can atleast reach 20 mil polygons while nomad can get 30 mil. That may be off with blender estimates but thats what ive seen online with blenders poly count limit.
I was looking at some pictures of Prime 1 Studio. If you have enough talent you can create something like this with Nomad. But you should use an IPad Pro 16GB and not a 3GB Android phone.

It wasnt to doubt nomad sculpt and its capabilities, ive looked and seen many sculptures done in nomad and its quite amazing and actually the stuff id like to make. i just figured from what i heard it seems like blender and nomad were similar which seemed interesting to ask about.
I do have blender too on my laptop and was planning on getting a new laptop aswell, but i could only get one. and lately id decided for the ipad because i already knew nomad was what i needed, aswell as other apps and personal uses.
It should be noted that it is not the software / hardware that creates the objects, but the user who uses the software as a tool.
I hope you are artistically and app technically on the level of Prime Studio 1 artists, because if not, then even the best software / hardware will not help.

Nomad and Blender are different tools with different strengths. I use them both and, in some cases, do different parts of the same project in both programs. They are both useful and, both worth learning.
At my skill level, Blender allows me to sculpt certain sorts of things with more precision. In particular, things with flat surfaces and sharp edges or, where a curve being exact matters. It might be better if exact scale of components is needed.
I have an ipad pro with nomad sculpt and its really good but im probably gonna need another computer or laptop for general use. And i figured since computers/laptops would be more powerful they should yield bigger and better results for sculpting and allow for more flexibility and less limitations. So id love to know how far blender can be pushed.
Talking purely sculpting? No. I work on a single character/object at a time. For animation or still renders? Eh? It depends on what you mean by high poly. With all the subdiv modifiers turned on the characters alone can get up into the millions easy, but I usually use proxy meshes until I need to run simulations or renders, to stop things from bogging down.
Yeah i like the more statuesque type of works not necessarily going for skin pours and every single wrinkle and crease. Just the pose and character body from head to toe. I was hoping to possibly create action scenes
Nowadays I move over to ZBrush to finalise my high polys for the simple reason that ZBrush uses way less RAM than Blender for similar/better performance. However, I still do a lot of work in Blender, especially now when I am learning how to build my own modifiers/tools with geometry nodes to speed up things more than ZBrush can accomplish. For instance, I was able to create a face pattern modifier that can create chain mail from a low poly mesh, which generated about 10-30 million extra polygons in one of my tests without losing viewport performance or the ability to keep editing the settings/base mesh.
From my own perspective, the biggest bottleneck for Blender sculpting is RAM and to a lesser extent CPU power. I have had models using up all my 64 GBs of RAM from time to time, so investing in more RAM is a way to bypass some of the Blender performance hiccups. I hope the move to Vulcan and the potential Multires rework will help with reducing the resources needed for dense geometry models in Blender, since it is not incredibly far off from achieving ZBrush levels of fidelity if you have access to hardware to compensate for it.
As for my highest to date. That would be my most recent project that I did in Substance Modeler. That ended up at 1.2 billion. Yes, billion.
This had to be crunched right down for unwrap/texturing in Substance Painter, so this was pretty interesting.
