Hello guys,

As a continuation on OpenCL experiments on Intel HD Graphics on Linux via Intel's Beignet OpenCL runtime and SDK, I tossed in cgminer 3.72, compiled it from source, configured it as appropriate and benchmarked it as necessary to see the values that this GPGPU can score if it were used as a Bitcoin mining rig.

Results: See attached images:

The baseline is about 11-12 MH/s (Millionm hashes per second) when solviong blocks on the crypto block chain. Simply put, this is about 15% the performance of my gaming laptop, which pulls off about 60-100 MH/s depending on power savings mode.

Comparative analysis of the same with Powertop to monitor power utilization is attached below:

Note the power utilization of the GPU core (Misc) entry above. Correlates with the  GPGPU's usage as cgminer runs on the Intel chip.

Now, using Intel's intel_gpu_top to analyze and trace the GPU's perf metrics:

We can see the GPU's EU's getting maxed out, allowing us to take an  inner look at how the GPU distributes compute loads when in use.

More to follow.

later, amigos.

Tranquilo,

Dennis.

You're welcome.

Mine along now. I gather Fedora 21 has excellent open source OpenCL support out of the box, so these of you with recent Intel Integrated Graphics on Core Processors will have access to beignet's OpenCL framework from day 1.
