Hi everyone,

For our next meetup, we are looking for people who would like to present something. It can be anything related to GNU/Linux or open source (a tool, a project, a tutorial, or something you are learning).

If you are interested in giving a short talk or demo, please reply to this email.

Thanks!

Are there any proposed venues? Though online would also work.

Will share some ideas for May meetup in a separate thread.

I've been learning about Architecture of Database Systems. I would be interested in sharing what I've learned, and talk about Postgres.

Hi all!
I've been learning about the GreatFET One and Facedancer, an open source hardware and software toolkit for studying, making and reverse engineering USB devices. https://greatscottgadgets.com/greatfet/one/, https://github.com/greatscottgadgets/facedancer

Awesome!

I'm looking forward to this talk!

PostgreSQL is a beast and a very critical piece of technology. This is going to be amazing! 🔥

Hello Brian!

Splendid. Thanks for volunteering!

I know nothing about GreatFET One or Facedancer. People will be blown away! 🔥

Hi everyone,

I'd love to present at the next meetup! I’ve been contributing to Meshery (the cloud-native manager) and would enjoy sharing my journey—from making my first contributions to navigating the codebase. I can do a short talk on the project itself and what the experience of contributing to a large-scale open-source ecosystem has been like.

Looking forward to it!

Awesome - thank you all for volunteering to present!

I’m closing the call for speakers with this reply. Please reply with your talk title and your name(s) as you’d like them to appear on the posters.

Thank you!

Hello hello😄 I think we can still fit you in! I just need to know the total number of speakers so I can plan the time — it will be around 25 minutes each. Which I hope it'll be enough for you.

That should still work. Please reply with your talk title and name(s).

Best

Has the date been decided?

Keeping in mind that the first Saturday of April is on Easter weekend.

Hello,

I’d like to ask if anyone would like to help with the poster for our next event.

Feel free to engage yourself and contribute. If anyone would like my previous design, I’ll share it (not sure if I’m able to share without Canva Premium). But even a simple design would work.

You might want to include maybe an overview of the topics we’re going to talk about.

Are Paul and Cornelius sponsoring again?
Will they be able to sponsor for the next 12 months? Or should there be
a discussion around this?

Here is a draft. If it is good to go, I would like your help to:

1. Know what I should add or remove to make it better
2. The timeframe for the meetup, to add it to the poster

If not, you could share what you think I should change.

For this meetup we will sponsor it. If you need a breakdown of the expenses, we are happy and glad to share it with you.

We ought to have a conversation on sustainability of the group and it is great you have brought it up.Thank you for that.

I will start an email thread to get ideas on how we can proceed.

Thanks for working on this Douglas!

It's an epic poster.

Just a couple of rectifications.
  • The time for the meetup is from 3 to 6 pm.
  • Could you change "hangout" to "meetup"?
  • Could you change, "Intro to Large Scale Open Source" to "Zero to contributor: finding my way in Large-Scale Open Source  "
Thanks!
