Jambo,
Please find attached documentation on connect to internet using Safaricom modem (Huawei E160/E220 USB GSM Modems) using simple PAP protocol or using TELKOM Kenya modems (Huawei E1550/ ZTE MF667 USB GSM Modems) that uses strictly the CHAP protocol.
Please note that documentation is more than 15 years old but may still be useful.

Originally, the CHAP instructions were for TELKOM Kenya CDMA modems which were later replaced by standard GSM modems after Orange (French Company) bought TELKOM Kenya and phased out the CDMA technology but still retained the CHAP protocol internet connections via GSM.
