RE: Using slackpkg to Update Slackware 15 (UEFI) and Making New Kernel Bootable

Greetings Happy Linux People.

For the Ubuntu lovers, you do it with apt so that you can update your system.

For we Slackware users, we use slackpkg to update our systems and for the older hardware (before UEFI) you simply had to run lilo after updating your system for the new kernel to be bootable. Things though did get a bit complex with newer hardware UEFI and you can read up on making your new kernel bootable.


For the newbies out there Slackware Linux is the oldest Linux distribution that is still in existence & the learning curve is quite steep!! But if you can use Slackware Linux you wont be scared of using other Unix or Linux distributions

You can ignore my remarks on elilo v lilo in the
other thread. This pretty much captures it.
