Dear list members,

I just came across this group on Github after bumping into Alan Orth's website - https://mjanja.ch/ .

I think the vision of this group is very important especially in encouraging new folks in tech to embrace FLOSS technologies.

Is the group still active?
If not, what help do you need to get it up and running again?

Thanks,
Paul

Jambo Paul,

Group is still active. Any contributions are welcome. Not so many
people get involved in open source internships. Giving a tutorial/talk
on OpenStack and your contributions may be nice. Typically meet on the
first saturday of each month, sometimes in person, sometimes online.

Your blog post on ZNC is nice. Additions to the LUG blog are welcome.
It is currently at: https://nairobi.lug.or.ke though may revert to
https://nairobilug.or.ke Contributions can be made through
https://github.com/nairobilug/nairobilug.or.ke

Jambo Benson,

Thank you very much for the warm welcome.
I am looking forward to making as many contributions as possible.
I know a lot of folks who would love to join a FLOSS/GNU group in Nairobi and this is definitely their thing.

It is understandable that a lot of people are busy with their lives but I do believe we can make this group bigger than it currently is :)
I am looking forward to the next meet-up. Can't wait to meet the members of this group.

With regards to open-source, my blog is nothing as compared to this : https://femmefroya.hashnode.dev/
I have CC'd the author on this email. I think she would be an impeccable addition to the group.

Thanks,
Paul

Jambo Sharon, Jambo Paul,

Would be great if you would be willing to give a talk on Saturday 6
January probably online, or probably in person on Saturday 4 February.
Increasing people doing FOSS work in Kenya and Africa would be great.
International programs are good, but also locally developed software,
either as hobby projects, class work, thesis work or tools that also
generate revenue would be great to have.

An interesting thread from India:
