If you already own a registered copy of Filter Forge, you can upgrade to Filter Forge 13 or get a lifetime upgrade that inlcudes version 13.0 and all future versions for a one-time fee. Click here for upgrade options.
A standalone program for Windows and macOs that saves time and effort when you need to render dozens or hundreds of images. It allows you to add filters from Filter Forge to a queue and then render them in one go. Visual Batch Renderer requires a Filter Forge license to operate. Learn more about Visual Batch Renderer.
Downloading all 14057 library filters into Filter Forge can be tedious and time-consuming. To make this easier, we offer companion products: Filter Library Backup, a single zip file containing all library filters; and Librarian, a standalone app that helps you quickly load library filters into Filter Forge. Learn more about Filter Library Backup and Librarian.
Same problem here...
Happened in the past too. So I had to purchase a newer version.
Hope this time it will work some how. I have bought the "lifetime"
version. I hope this meant a human life. Not the lifetime of a butterfly ...
The "Nik filters" and "Eye Candy 7"were also gone but are functional great
again after reinstallation. Someone likes to keep us busy.
Wanted to test out the demo within Affinity before purchasing (just to make sure I can achieve the effect I want...applying an artistic border to text via mask). Is it not able to be run within AP2 as a demo plugin? It was automatically detected, and I checked Allow Unknown Plugins. After restarting, I can see it, but it is gray and will not open.
I can offer you this. I have a Mac, running Big Sur, and I own a copy of Filter Forge 8. Version 8 runs just fine in Affinity Photo 2. I can send it 8 bit or 16 bit files, and there does not seem to be any size restriction. I cannot speak for the later versions of Filter Forge, and cannot comment on how well it runs on a Windows system.
If you are running a Windows system, you might want to look at G'Mic. It's a free plug-in with many, many different effects available. It doesn't offer the flexibility that Filter Forge does (programming your own filters, for instance) but for a casual user it might be a good solution. And you can't beat the price.
As I said, I work on a Mac and there is no G'Mic compatibility with Mac systems. This is a shame, since it's got a wonderful reputation (which I've gleaned mostly from reading the comments of others on this forum). You might want to try it before you shell out cold, hard cash for Filter Forge (especially if you're only an occasional user).
And it has to be with RGB files? I'm developing a book cover in Publisher, my preferred app for nearly every cover due to personas (which can't use Filter Forge without sending to Photo I've learned). My current project is actually RGB/8 right now since I am doing the digital version first at the request of the author.
@walt.farrell, since you help on nearly every post I have ever seen, would you have any idea with the current direction print shops are going if I should move all projects, particularly ones that have print and digital versions of equal importance like book covers, to being RGB files and letting the print shops convert to CMYK? I had that suggestion in a different post, but I typically create both projects and alter anything that doesn't quite match up.
It would be much easier to develop one file if they are going to do a good enough job converting. I have experimented with both for Amazon authors, and found RGB seems to work better with very dark covers, and I even had a print-only card game template project that required .png (RGB) files for the final prints earlier this week.
To everyone else, I can always experiment with layer types and other forms of "roughing" up the letters since I am following a Photoshop Tutorial that isn't exactly 1:1 with Affinity for the effect I want. Was just hoping to speed up hand-created effects. Here is the tutorial, if anyone is interested or knows a quick way to make my text edges rough:
No worries, and thank you all. So far, it is coming along nicely. Filter Forge worked fabulously for some rough edges, and I'm just working around the masking this guy is doing and hand-drawing a few things (like extreme Crystalize) myself.
The first version of logs functionality does not allow for the filtering by log level on the developer console. The (no so elegant) workaround is to download them and filter on the file as you mentioned.
However, we do have two features on the roadmap to improve the log debugging functionality. The first that we are looking at is the ability to stream logs into an external tool, this would enable you to filter the logs in any way that the tool supports and to share the logs with other developers.
The second is to add more filtering and other functionality into the developer console itself along with the ability to add other developers as owners or contributors to the app. This would give other developers the ability to view the logs apart from the app owner.
@LukasGotter , as informed earlier in the thread, the work is in progress for implementing the filters on our Log DevConsole to enable efficient processing of logs. Also, we are working on removing or upgrading this log limit of 95-sites so that all available log results could be accessed. This could be tracked in here.
We will keep you updated.
Hello Lukas,
We would like to inform you that the limit on the number of sites from which logs can be retrieved in one go has been increased from 95 sites to 400 sites.
We understand that the current 400-site limit may not fully resolve the issue, and we are actively working towards removing this limitation entirely.
Filter Forge renders images based on input images and XML documents called "filters". A filter (not to be confused with a mathematical filter) is essentially a tree of successive generations and/or transformations of color and position. Types of generations include single colors, polygons, gradients, Perlin noise, variations of Worley noise, and patterns commonly found in masonry. Types of transformations include rotation, scaling, refraction, noise distortion, kaleidoscope patterns, blurs, edge detection, blending, a variety of color space manipulations, and switches. As of version 4.0xx, the program also implements floating point processing, particle arrays, recursive loops, bzier curves, and built-in Lua scripting. Filter Forge also includes rendering options such as anti-aliasing, bump maps and normal maps, environment mapping, ambient occlusion, seamless tiling, and a text-based batch renderer. Users can randomize or control specific parameters of each filter through sliders, color pickers, and checkboxes. Sets of parameter values can be saved as presets.
While it is possible to edit filters with any text editor, Filter Forge includes a visual node-based filter editor. In the editor window, components are placed on a workspace and connected to one another like blocks in a flowchart. Similar editors exist in other computer graphics applications such as Genetica,[2] DarkTree,[3] and Substance Designer.[4]
Filter Forge hosts a web-based library of thousands of user-submitted filters that can be previewed and downloaded online or using the program's built-in browser. It maintains this model by offering a time-limited demo and rewards to authors of highly used library filters. Renders of library filters are available to anyone for free, but the program is needed to modify the filters and their parameters.[5]
At the Filter Forge forums one of the filter authors CMandF posted this link to a YouTube video he made to illustrate how to go about downloading the update, in case you are unfamiliar with the process...
