My fellow Pythonistas,

JUMO is looking for awesome Python developers to join our Nairobi team and help us conquer the world.

See details below, and spread the word!

Regards,

Sam Kitonyi

Who we are

JUMO is a fast-growing fintech company. We use data to understand what financial opportunities people need, and then we put the power of that choice in the palm of their hands.

We’ve issued over 6 million mobile loans so far in 4 countries, and our plans encompass Africa (and beyond!) We are looking for talented, experienced software engineers to help us get to the next level.

You’ll be joining a small team of expert software engineers in Nairobi. The job entails routine travel to Cape Town, and occasional travel to other cities across Africa.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Expand the reach of our mobile money platform

  • Build tools to manage our customer experience

  • Operationalize algorithms from Data Science / Credit Risk

  • Make the team better: lead code reviews; give tech talks

  • Document all the things: Flowcharts, sequence diagrams, architecture diagrams

  • Scale, scale, scale!!

What  We’re Looking For

  • Someone passionate enough to give a talk at PyConZA 2016 about the technical challenges they faced, and how they overcame them!

  • Strong Python skills

  • Experience with an MVC web framework (Django, Flask etc)

  • Experience with a range of SQL and NoSQL data stores

  • Experience building microservices and REST frameworks

  • Experience with distributed systems and message queues

  • A deep understanding of scalable and reliable systems

  • Strength in software design and architecture

  • 5 years experience solving real-world business problems

  • An appreciation for clean, well-tested and maintained code

Bonus:

  • Experience with devops and cloud computing (AWS, Docker)

  • A keen interest in metrics, monitoring and data analysis

  • Great communication skills

How to Apply
  • Send your resume and / or portfolio to sam.k...@jumo.world
