Gullible Pastor Called Emeka Okala:

Botswana has only 2.5 million people, yet it is still  a developing country with that masive diamond deposits. A country with that little population and plenty of diamonds supposed to have developed by now. Compared to Nigeria with 235 million people. 

Singapore with 6 million people is a developed country today, because it's a city-state. It's population is less than 1/3 of the population of Lagos, so it's easy for it to be developed today, due to its location and investments from several countries. It's also refinery center for oil producing countries.

While their leaders work hard with vision, their main advantage is their small populations. If they have Nigeria's type of population, it would be had for them to have high per capital incomes.

If Nigeria was that small, it would have developed today. The large population is weighing down Nigeria and unless Nigeria introduces birth control, it will be had for Nigeria to develop.

Trump opened the pandora box called Iran, trying find out if it's a cookie jar and the world will never be the same again. Iran war is now a big mess beyond his imagination, after he opened the pandora box. The war is now spreading like wild fire, beyond his imagination and he doesn't know how to stop it or contain it or how to exit it. Like I said before, Iran knows how to fight a war of attrition with cheap and portable munitions and long range missiles that are buried deep everywhere in Iran beyond human sights and detection devices and it can turn the Strait to a profitable venture, making the whole world pay to repair the damages the war has caused, leading to more inflation everywhere in the world. 

I pity Nigeria that's working hard to get its inflation down to the minimum level as the war will cause more inflation. 

It's now becoming absurd, when Ukraine that supposed to be fighting its own war against Russia tries to insert itself into the war on behalf of Trump, thinking Trump would help it in its own war against Russia. That's a big miscalculation. Trump only aligns with Russia. 

May God rescue the whole world, before the war turns into a world war, because Trump doesn't know what he is doing.

Only a thoughtless sadistic maniac would expect Trump to attack a nuclear weapons-possessing North Korea or any other nuclear power, what would be the purpose, to get millions of people killed in both countries? The purpose attacking Iran is  to stop it from obtaining nuclear weapons technology; Trump would have attacked North Korea in the 1990s or early 2000s to prevent it from obtaining were he in office then. Presidents Clinton and Bush did not toe that line because North Korea played them in obtaining sanctions lifting and generous food supplies in exchange for abandoning nuclear technology. No one will attack North Korea today because it is too late, it already has nuclear technology. Kwankwaso urges Nigerians to take 2027 elections seriously after joining ADC

Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in 2023, who has since resigned from the party and registered with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has urged Nigerians to regard the forthcoming 2027 general elections as among the most serious in their political lives.

Kwankwaso, who registered with the ADC at his Miller Road country home on Monday, under registration number 000201, said Nigerians have a duty to free the country from the shackles of misgovernance and to go out on election day with serious-looking faces.

“For you to understand what I’m talking about, from today I will not allow anybody to pass the gates of my house without ADC and INEC registered cards; therefore, go out and ensure that you register accurately with our party and INEC,” he said.

Speaking, the national chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark, said the day marks a defining moment in the history of the nation’s democracy. He added that it marks a special day in the journey to make Nigeria a better country and a more united nation.

“We stand together today, not just as one political party but as people united to make our dear country, Nigeria, a better nation. Nigeria can be better and must work better for all Nigerians.”

Mark explained that Kwankwaso is highly welcome, along with millions of his supporters, to the ADC. He said they have come together in unity of purpose, conviction and vision.

“Your coming to ADC is not merely a political statement; it is a deliberate response to the clarion call by well-meaning Nigerians for all opposition leaders to be united and present a common front to protect our democracy.”

BREAKING: South Africans Storm Eastern Cape Streets, Demand Deportation Of Nigerians Involved In Igbo King Coronation

Tensions have escalated in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province following a controversial coronation of an Igbo traditional ruler, as protesters stormed the streets demanding the immediate deportation of Nigerians linked to the event and warning of possible violent resistance if authorities fail to act.

The protest, led by members of the political group ActionSA alongside traditional leaders and community members, comes amid growing outrage over what demonstrators described as an affront to the sovereignty, constitutional order, and traditional leadership structures of the province.

Speaking to SABC News during the demonstration, one of the protesters declared solidarity with local traditional authorities while condemning the coronation, which reportedly took place in East London, also referred to as KuGompo City.

“First of all, we are here in solidarity with the traditional leadership of the Eastern Cape, all of the traditional leaders, and also the people of the Eastern Cape,” the protester said in a video making the rounds on the internet.

“Let me just put up front that ActionSA's policy about illegal immigration is very clear. If you are in this country illegally, and you do anything illegal, you are going to be sent back home.

This is a sovereign nation. It is our nation, we love it, and we are protected by a constitution.

“There is nowhere in our constitution that makes provision for a Nigerian from the Igbo tribe to come and become coronated as a king of the Eastern Cape.”

The protester further alleged that statements made during the coronation heightened tensions, accusing organisers of attempting to establish a parallel authority structure within the province.

“But beyond that, the utterances that were made at that coronation is what really galls us as a party, as ActionSA.

“The utterances were that they are establishing a kingship in the Eastern Cape and a homeland.

We have a history of homelands in this province, a painful history of the homeland of the former Siskind, the former Transkind, where people were moved in there after being expropriated, having their land expropriated.

“They had limited opportunities, they are still some of the poorest people in our province, and we are not going to tolerate the establishment of another homeland.”

Drawing parallels with apartheid-era policies, the protester warned against any perceived attempt to recreate ethnically defined territories.

“They went further, though, and they said that they are going to encourage their brothers and sisters in Nigeria, in their hundreds of thousands, to come and establish a homeland in this province,” the protester said.

That is not going to happen, because this province is not up for the taking. Here are our traditional leaders behind me.

“We respect them, there are five kingships that are respected by the president, inaugurated and recognized by our President and our constitution.”

The protester also dismissed claims reportedly attributed to the Nigerian diplomatic mission that the coronation was merely symbolic.

“So, I want to go further to say that the embassy of Nigeria said that it was just a customary thing, it wasn't much, and they do it all over the world. It is not true,” the protester said.

We have taken great exception to the disrespect and the provocation of this coronation, and we want the Nigerian government to come out strongly against it.

“More importantly, we want our government to make an unambiguous statement about their respect and recognition of our existing traditional leaders, and that they will never respect a kingship belonging to the Igbo nation in the Eastern Cape or in South Africa.”

In a separate address, Prince Xhanti Sigcawu from the Amathole House of Traditional Leaders, reinforced calls for immediate government action, describing the incident as a direct violation of South Africa’s sovereignty and legal framework.

I want to highlight that our sovereignty is true to the statutes and dictates of the Constitution of South Africa and the laws governing this country,” he said.

“No one can come from wherever that person comes from and come here and undermine the authority of this country, especially this kingdom.

“We are led here by King Vululu Andesandi, who is the great-great-grandchild of King Palo Kakos.”

Sigcawu demanded the expulsion of all individuals involved in the coronation, regardless of their immigration status.

He said, “We are really appealing to our government to see to it that whoever participated in this illegal coronation of the so-called king is removed from the borders of this country with immediate effect, whether that person came legal or not.

Thirdly, in the rural villages, we have people who are running spaza shops and hardware stores who are also foreign nationals.”

He warned that failure by authorities to act could trigger unrest among local communities.

“We are appealing to the law enforcement authorities to immediately deal with those before people can take the law into their own hands. No one can undermine our authority,” he said.

“We have been visiting various countries in the world, and we have never undermined anyone's authority.”

Sigcawu accused foreign nationals, particularly Nigerians of Igbo descent, of undermining traditional leadership structures and destabilising the region.

This event of the past week really shows that these foreign nationals, especially the Igbo people from Nigeria, undermine the authority of our kingship, and they want to see this country in turmoil,” he said.

“We want to avoid turmoil because we will really take up arms if this is not immediately attended to.”

Reiterating the demand for deportation, the protester stressed that the coronation had no legal or cultural legitimacy within the context of South Africa’s traditional governance system.

“Hence, we are appealing to our government to take these people out of the borders of this country, especially those who participated in this uncalled-for event of coronating a king in another.

The issue here, which a lot of people had raised, and of course, traditional leaders had raised, was that what had happened in the previous weeks, seeing that video of a so-called Nigerian king being installed in his position here in East London or Kokombo City, showed you know that it was undermining traditional leadership in the Eastern Cape.”

Sigcawu described widespread anger among local traditional institutions, saying the incident had deeply offended indigenous authority structures.

“Indeed, we are really pissed off with the circumstances of the past weeks,” he said.

“We really feel undermined because there is no one who can really undermine someone's sovereignty.

Again, DSS detains El-Rufai as court fixes April 14 for bail hearing

The Department of State Services, DSS, again, on Wednesday took custody of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, moments after proceedings at the Federal High Court in Kaduna.

DAILY POST reports that El-Rufai, standing trial over alleged corruption, had just concluded a hearing on his bail application filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC, when DSS operatives bundled him into a waiting vehicle and drove him away, reportedly heading to Abuja.

There was a heavy presence of DSS operatives around the court before the hearing, which had fueled speculation that the former governor might be taken into custody.

DAILY POST had earlier reported that El-Rufai had arrived at the court at about 9:05 a.m. in a Hilux van, drawing attention from security personnel and observers.

Meanwhil, Speaking to journalists after the proceedings, lead defence counsel, Oluwole Iyamu, SAN, confirmed that the court had fixed April 14 for ruling on the bail application.

The bail application was argued and responded to, and the ruling has been fixed for April 14,” he said.

I just told you two days ago to be preparing for an unprecedented uproar, crisis and disruption to ADC, because Atiku and his gang of hijackers (David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola) who hijacked ADC from the original owners of ADC would be upended, as the marathon movie of ADC's turmoils has just begun, and it has started to unfold just like I said it would, with court case and INEC now deleting the hijackers' names and their factions from its register because they're illegal members.

I told you last year that Atiku and his gang illegally hijacked ADC from the original owners and that would spark crisis in ADC. Your Peter Obidiot's candidacy in ADC is now hanging on the roof. Their fate will be determined by the original owners of ADC.

ADC: INEC strikes out David Mark, Aregbesola’s names from portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has removed the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official portal as National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), respectively.

The commission also said it would not recognise Nafiu Bala Gombe, who is seeking to be declared national chairman through the courts.

INEC announced on Wednesday that it would suspend recognition of all factions within the party and refrain from monitoring any conventions or congresses organised by groups aligned with the affected leaders.

The decision, it said, will remain in place pending the final determination of a substantive suit before the Federal High Court.

The development follows a leadership crisis within the ADC and a recent judgment of the Court of Appeal in Suit No. CA/ABJ/145/2026, which has further complicated the dispute.

In a statement, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mallam Mohammed Kudu Haruna, said the Commission remains committed to neutrality.

He urged political stakeholders to avoid actions that could disrupt preparations for the 2027 general elections.

INEC disclosed that it had received a letter dated March 16, 2026, from Suleiman Usman SAN & Co, warning against any recognition of Nafiu Bala Gombe as acting national chairman while legal proceedings are ongoing.

The Commission also confirmed receiving a separate “Demand for Enforcement” from Summit Law Chambers, representing Gombe, which called for the removal of Mark and Aregbesola from INEC’s records and urged the Commission to stop engaging with them or recognising any activities conducted under their authority.

The conflicting legal demands from the rival factions have deepened the party’s internal crisis, prompting INEC to halt all official dealings with the contending groups until the courts resolve the matter.

I told you last year that Atiku and his gang illegally hijacked ADC from the original owners and that would spark crisis in ADC. Your Peter Obidiot's candidacy in ADC is now hanging on the roof. Their fate will be determined by the original owners of ADC.

It's a shame that you have decided to pretend not to know the apparently indefatigable treachery of President Tinubu and his APC to end at nothing to destroy the opposition forces so Tinubu would have a smooth sail for his evil ambition to rule Nigeria a second time with his UNPARDONABLE ineptitude and obvious frailty.

They penetrated the erstwhile formidable and well-organised Labour Party (LP) through the willing and open hands of Julius Abure and Apapa who finally injected toxicity into the body politic of the LP which constrained Peter Obi to helplessly, but wisely leave the party for them. He refused to swallow their bait, if you know what I mean. 

You know the truth but instead of acknowledging it, you and you minions on this platform have chosen to castigate Peter Obi as lacking the know-how to manage a party. How? 

They also penetrated the PDP and injected the party with the same poison and the once prided largest political party in West Africa has been reduced to one of the infinitesimal political parties in Nigeria for the same purpose  -  making the force of  opposition go extinct for a smooth sail of the wishes and desires of President Tinubu to do a second term. God forbid!!

Perhaps you think that discussants are not noticing your role in the scheme of things. No! you are very wrong! They understand your role perfectly but what they (including this writer) may not understand is why you have chosen to play that unenviable role against the well-being of the Nigerian state. Is it out of tribalism or inducement? Whichever way, the fact still remains that people have understood your role long time ago and that's the reason why your contributions to political dynamics of the polity ceased to hold water for a very long time too.

Bottom line:  Nigeria is not Lagos State. It's too large and complex for Tinubu to do a Lagos State, where, he remains the owner and overall socio-political and economic influencer to this day. His tenure will elapse at the end of his first term in May 2027. And that's the simple truth! Meka.

All those cheering Tinubu and APC's gradual destruction of democracy in Nigeria would be the same hypocrites and liars who would lament a coup by the military -- they are too stupid to know that what Tinubu and APC are doing is a form of gradual coup executing. We saw this in 1983, the ruling NPN was doing exactly what the ruling APC is doing today, destabilizing other political parties, using FEDECO to recognizing fraudulent leadership in other political parties against the rules and laws of those parties, and unconscionably rigging the 1983 elections brazenly and arrogantly, etc. These politically criminal acts heightened in 1982 in readiness for the election of 1983, just as as APC has heightened its politically criminal activities in 2026 against the 2027 electoral showdown. Were ruling PDP's president Jonathan a criminal and unpatriotic Nigerian, he would have deployed the same criminality that APC is deploying now and the result would have been a defeat of Buhari and APC in 2015.

Whether we like it or not, the West wields political influence on African states. If Tinubu and his gang were smart, they would know that the US is watching, and as long as the US has lost trust in Tinubu, APC and Tinubu will not rig the 2027 election and get away with doing so -- the US may make the CIA do a regime change in Nigeria through the military. If these fools are unable to organize a single party coherently(with probably less than 5million members each) and align all members towards a focussed objective, how do you expect them to align a country of 250 million towards a shared and focussed vision for development?

When the court of law says all parties before it must maintain 'Status quo ante bellum', it means all parties to the dispute before it must revert to the initial status, before the crisis started. Which means the ADC must go back to the previous Executive Council that ADC had before the hijackers called Atiku and his gang called David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola hijacked the ADC. To do that, INEC would ask ADC to install the previous Executive Council of ADC before the hijack, and if INEC had done that, the like of Atiku, David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, Peter Obidiot and Amaechi would be crying foul calling INEC patisan. Instead, INEC while respecting the court order, decided to not recognize any factions of ADC, until the court's final judgment on the case, in order to maintain neutrality. Which is good.

Unfortunately, your ADC Lawyers failed law woefully. They all need to be debarred from practicing law in Nigeria until they pass Law School Bar exams.

I don't know how old you were during the reign of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) as the Military President of Nigeria. He singularly deployed and diabolically abused the might of the Instrument of Power of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under his control to brazenly cancel the result of the fairest, freest and most credible general election that clearly produced late MKO Abiola as the chosen and preferred President at the time. Because IBB (one man) was able to cower the entire Nigerian population at the the time, to satisfy his whims and caprices, did you doff your hat to him, if you were an adult then?

That's one of my 200 recommendations to the government, to secure Nigeria and it must not be Surveillance Cameras alone, it must be done in conjuction with and establishment of Command and Control Centers to be located in every local government headquarters, every state capital and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to serve as monitoring and operations centers. Furthermore, it must be established throughout Nigeria, not just Plateau State.

Tinubu directs security chiefs to hunt Plateau attackers, orders 5,000 CCTV cameras

President Bola Tinubu has directed top security chiefs and the Minister of Defence to go after the killers of Plateau citizens and immediately strengthen security measures in the state to tackle recurring attacks.

The President made the directive on Thursday while speaking at a town hall meeting with stakeholders in Jos.

Tinubu also announced that the Federal Government would deploy 5,000 security cameras to Plateau to boost intelligence gathering, surveillance and rapid response to security threats.

The directive came as the President arrived in Jos to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the deadly gunmen attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, which claimed over 28 innocent lives on Palm Sunday.

Condemning the attack, Tinubu said he was elected not to create widows and widowers.

Speaking earlier, Governor Mutfwang welcomed the President, noting that his visit came at a time when the state was enjoying relative peace and attracting local and foreign investments before the Sunday incident.

Mutfwang said the attack represented a temporary setback but expressed confidence that, with the support of the Federal Government and security forces, the state would overcome the challenge.

He commended the gallant efforts of security agencies, who prevent many attacks that often go unnoticed, and disclosed that he had convened a Security Council meeting where far-reaching decisions were taken.

The governor recalled that the security problem had persisted for nearly three decades across the tenures of previous governors Joshua Dariye, Senator Jonah Jang and Simon Lalong, but noted that President Tinubu’s leadership had provided a new platform for unity among Plateau leaders.

He assured the President of his resolve to rally leaders and people to confront the challenge and reclaim the state’s identity as a land of peace and tourism.

Former Governor Jonah Jang, who also spoke, requested a follow-up meeting with the President in Abuja for a heart-to-heart discussion on lasting solutions to the security problem.

Jang warned against attempts by some individuals to sabotage upcoming elections and expressed confidence that, with Tinubu’s support, ongoing sensitisation efforts would succeed.

For your ignorance, you don't appeal a case that's  pending final determination in a court of law, unless you know you are guilty of the accusation. Atiku and his gang of hijackers called David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola rushed to the appeal court to use their power to stop the lower court from making a judgment on an on going case, because they knew they bribed Nwosu to orchestrate a coup detat to install them as owners of ADC. That's a foul and the court of appeal, realizing what they were trying to do against the original owners stopped them immediately, by dismissing the appeal as meritless. They were jumping the gun, because they were guilty as charged. That's a shame.

ADC leadership crisis: What we know so far

The decision of the Comment (INEC) not to recognise any faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has deepened the party’s leadership crisis, with conflicting claims and counter-claims continuing to trail a recent court ruling.

At the centre of the dispute are David Mark, former senate president; and Nafiu Bala, who was one of the deputy national chairmen of the party — with both men laying claim to the leadership structure of the party.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

The current crisis is rooted in efforts by opposition figures to build a broader political coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a move aimed at consolidating forces against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), political leaders across different platforms began pitching tent with the ADC in 2025.

Aside from Mark, some of the coalition members include ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; Uche Secondus, former PDP national chairman; Babangida Aliyu, former governor of Niger state; Sam Egwu, former governor of Ebonyi; Aminu Tambuwal, ex-governor of Sokoto; and Liyel Imoke, former governor of Cross River.

Others are Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna; Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the LP in 2023; Rauf Aregbesola, former minister of interior; Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation; Solomon Dalung, ex-minister of sports; Odigie Oyegun, former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Bolaji Abdullahi, a former minister of sports; among others.

On July 2, Ralph Nwosu, the party’s founder and former national chairman, announced the resignation of the national working committee (NWC), paving the way for an interim leadership structure headed by Mark.

However, the arrangement was soon contested by a faction within the ADC.

Bala, who was the vice-national chairman of the party, maintained that he never resigned his position and argued that, following the exit of the party chairman, he ought to have assumed leadership in line with the party’s constitution.

He then declared himself party chairman, vowing to go against the Mark leadership in court.

BALA AND THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT

On September 2, 2025, Bala approached a federal high court in Abuja (Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025), seeking to stop Mark’s team members from parading themselves as party leaders.

He also sought an order to restrain INEC from recognising them and to compel recognition of himself as acting national chairman.

He further filed motions seeking to stop the party from holding meetings, congresses, or conventions pending the determination of the suit.

The motion ex parte was heard on September 4, 2025, and Emeka Nwite, the trial judge, directed that the respondents, including INEC, be put on notice to show cause why the motion ex parte should not be granted.

MARK AND THE COURT OF APPEAL 

Dissatisfied with an interim ruling, David Mark filed an appeal challenging the jurisdiction of the federal high court to continue to hear Bala’s suit.

However, on March 12, 2026, the court of appeal dismissed Mark’s case in its entirety, holding that it was incompetent and unmeritorious.

A three-member panel of the appellate court, led by Uchechukwu Onyemenam, found that there was no substantive ruling by the federal high court on the ex parte application, as the trial judge merely ordered that parties be put on notice.

As such, there was no valid decision upon which an appeal could properly be anchored.

The court further faulted Mark for relying on an enrolled order rather than the actual proceedings and ruling of the trial court, noting that only the judge’s pronouncement constitutes the authentic record of the court.

It also held that the appeal arose from an interlocutory step, for which Mark failed to obtain the required leave before approaching the appellate court.

On the issue of jurisdiction, the court of appeal noted that the question was still pending before the federal high court and could not be determined at the appellate level at that stage, describing the appeal as premature.

Having dismissed the appeal, the court proceeded to make preservatory orders aimed at safeguarding the subject matter of the dispute.

It directed parties to maintain the status quo ante bellum and refrain from taking any action capable of undermining the proceedings before the trial court.

The court also ordered an accelerated hearing of the substantive suit and awarded costs of N2 million against Mark.

In effect, while the court of appeal rejected Mark’s procedural challenge, it did not resolve the underlying question of who is the legitimate leader of the ADC, leaving that determination to the federal high court.

INEC STEPS IN

In a press release dated April 1, 2026, INEC said it had received conflicting demands from both sides.

After reviewing the court judgment and filings, Mohammed Haruna, INEC commissioner for information and voter education, said the commission will refrain from engaging with both groups or monitoring their meetings, congresses, and conventions.

The commission said at its meeting on Tuesday, it resolved “to maintain the status quo ante bellum as directed by the court of appeal based on the facts and position of the parties existing before 2nd September 2025, when the case was filed by the plaintiff”.

INEC added that it would “refrain from taking any step or doing any act capable of foisting a fait accompli on the court or otherwise rendering nugatory the proceedings before the trial court”, in line with the appellate court’s directive.

Meanwhile, Bolaji Abdullahi, national publicity secretary of ADC, has said the party will go ahead with its congresses and convention whether INEC shows up to monitor the events or not.

If the court meant what you claimed above, of what benefit is the lawsuit to Mr. Nafiu Bala who filed it? Wouldn't the situation still look like he did not file any lawsuit? You are selfishly misinterpreting "status quo ante bellum", pastor Ọkala, so let me refresh your understanding.

Status means "state"/"condition;" quo means "in which;" ante means "before," and bellum means "war." Taken altogether, the phrase means "the state in which things stood before the war (in this case, the war was whatever led Nafiu Bala to file the lawsuit). The court's purpose for this ruling is to not favor any party until the court shall have heard the case in detail, therefore the judge asked the parties to go back to where things stood when there was no fighting (war) -- again, the war is whatever led Mr. Bala to file the lawsuit, which you enumerated in the excerpt I took from your words; the judge asked them to go back to where they stood before Mark and Aregbesola took over -- the specific factor that aggrieved Bala and led to the war (filed lawsuit). 

ADC should not allow itself to be imperiled by bad lawyering and unnecessary appeal to the sensationalism of APC's corruption and democracy damaging. There is no doubt that APC is corrupt and is corruptly using INEC and the courts to undermining democracy, but ADC should not assist APC by not knowing the proper interpretation of "status quo ante bellum". If ADC sticks to its false interpretation of this court ruling, and allows it to give INEC a reason to stymie their participating in next year's elections, ADC will have itself to blame for falling for the trap that APC set for it.

Kayode Asebayo, this has been the party structure for which the Court unambiguously instructed should be maintained hitherto. Pastor Ọkala's argument above is excellent but it is devoid of the reality at hand. Making an excellent argument while ignoring the reality at hand was why Emeka Ihediọha lost his governorship seat to the atrocious criminal of Hope Uzọdimma. APC has been using the courts to perpetrating electoral criminality since the days of president Jonathan, when the president of the Court of Appeal (I don't remember his name now) overturned most election victories of PDP governors, including the one that brought Oshiomhole to office.  If ADC keeps making Ihediọha-like argument, ADC will find itself not eligible to contesting next year's elections -- because it shall have violated a court order that forbade it to doing anything, including holding congresses and nominating officials/candidates. 

APC and Uzọdimma criminally claimed that Uzọdimma scored XYZ number of votes in a single voting prescient that didn't even have up to that number of residents in totality. It was obvious that this was a fraudulent claim but Ihediọha's lawyers did not use the law to impeach the claim, they kept referring to what exists outside of the law, what was obvious to only residents of Imo state, and what ought to have been.... similar to what Emeka Ọkala is doing now. Well, the Supreme Court justices were not residents of Imo state or knew what obtained in that community, they only understood the law/APC's corrupting influence, so they followed the path known to them, which Ihediọha's lawyers had ignored. I hope that ADC officials aren't repeating your approach; if they did and violated the court's order, the sanction could lead to ADC getting disqualified to participating in next election -- a similar thing happened to APC in Rivers and Sokoto states a few years ago. 

Tell ADC, pastor Ọkala, to follow the law to the letter, else it would fall into the pit set for it by APC, and then got destroyed, as Ihediọha was destroyed.

The Final Hour: Why We Must Storm The Aso Rock, Not INEC, By SKC Ogbonnia

Nigerian masses and the civil society must rise and march to Aso Rock and protest against the recent plot to destabilize the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Clearly, the recent maneuver by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cripple the ADC is not an administrative error; it is well calculated. That is the renewed hope agenda at a critical hour. That is the political assassination attempt of the entire opposition at a critical juncture. It is the pivot of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing plot to tighten its grip on the throat of Nigerian democracy, moving us closer to a suffocating one-party state. It is the final hour of the renewed hope agenda of President TInubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stand unopposed in the forthcoming 2027 elections, despite enthroning the worst regime in national democratic history.

But the protests this time must be different to succeed. The way and manner to protest against the TInubu Tyranny must change, if we need true change.

First, instead of protesting at the INEC or the National Assembly as has been the case in the past, the valid venue is the Aso Rock where TInubu lives and works. The agencies like the INEC or the other branches of government, such as the Legislature and the Courts have become mere rubber stamps to carry out Tinubu’s evil policies.

For too long, the Nigerian masses and the civil society have been trying their hardest but have continued to play a losing game. We typically march to the gates of INEC; we shout at the walls of the National Assembly or complain at the Courts. But it is a common knowledge that these agencies are basically lifeless extensions of the executive's will. Those agencies or the other branches are the tail of the beast. If we are serious about stoping the predator, we must not step on its tail; we strike at the head.

The time for performative protests at agency headquarters ought to be over. The source of this democratic decay is the Aso Rock, the very seat of presidential power. That is where the policies are forged, where the strangulation of multipartyism is plotted, and where the mandate of the people is being diluted into a single, autocratic voice.

If we are to save the soul of this nation, the protest must move to the doorstep of the power-broker-in-chief. We must occupy the seat of power, not its shadows.

The ADC is just the latest victim; tomorrow, it will be the very idea of a free Nigeria.

Also very important, WE NEED A BOLD AND VISIBLE OPPOSITION. The time has come for the opposition leaders to broadly adopt the SOWORE style by leading from the front, leading the protesters. Mr. Chibuike Amaechi, Mr. Peter Obi, and Mr. Atiku Abubakar have joined in recent months but the presence of the opposition leaders must be elaborate sustained.

If ADC did what you just accused them of, then check where they copied the unenviable action - hiring a political lobbyist in America to lobby Donald Trump for a Nigerian internal matter. Since Tinubu and his ruling evil APC did it not too long ago, they have unwittingly set a ludicrously demeaning precedent for others to follow.

ADC Hires US Lobbying Firm With ‘Only One Client, Zero Revenue In 2025’ To Influence Trump's Administration On INEC Stalemate

INEC’s action, which halted official engagement with the party, has effectively paralysed the ADC’s political activities at a crucial time ahead of Nigeria’s next general elections.

Afresh controversy has trailed the decision of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to hire a little-known United States lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague York L.C., to intervene in Nigeria’s electoral dispute involving the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

SaharaReporters has learnt from multiple sources familiar with the development that the move has sparked outrage and ridicule among political observers, who described the firm as “insignificant” and lacking any credible lobbying track record.

This is a complete joke,” a political analyst told SaharaReporters. “You cannot claim to be defending democracy and then turn around to hire a firm with virtually zero record, no visible influence, and questionable capacity to engage the U.S. Congress or any serious administration figures.”

The development follows an earlier announcement by the firm that it would brief members of the U.S. Congress and the administration of U.S. President, Donald Trump, over INEC’s decision to suspend recognition of the ADC leadership pending the outcome of ongoing litigation.

INEC’s action, which halted official engagement with the party, has effectively paralysed the ADC’s political activities at a crucial time ahead of Nigeria’s next general elections.

In its statement, the lobbying firm had framed the issue as a threat to democratic participation in Nigeria, warning that the electoral body’s decision could undermine opposition politics and the credibility of the electoral process.

However, critics have dismissed the move as both misguided and wasteful.

“What exactly does the United States have to do with an internal electoral dispute in Nigeria?” another source queried. “This reflects a deep misunderstanding of both international politics and Nigeria’s sovereignty.”

Sources further alleged that the engagement could result in significant financial losses for the party, warning that the firm might “end up collecting millions of dollars without delivering any tangible results.”

There is a real risk that ADC is being taken for a ride,” one insider said. “This is how politically exposed organisations get scammed—by outsourcing serious national issues to obscure foreign entities with no proven success.”

Some analysts also questioned the strategic logic behind appealing to the Trump political circle, arguing that U.S. foreign policy priorities are rarely driven by democratic concerns in Africa.

“Anyone who thinks the Trump camp is primarily concerned about democracy in Nigeria is being naive,” a foreign policy expert said.

U.S. interests are typically tied to economic and strategic considerations such as oil, mineral resources, and regional security—not internal party disputes.”

The source added, “This move suggests a lack of clarity and direction within the ADC leadership. Instead of resolving internal issues and strengthening their domestic legal position, they are chasing international attention that may never materialise.”

The controversy comes amid growing tension over INEC’s suspension of the ADC leadership, a decision that has already triggered legal battles and heightened uncertainty within Nigeria’s opposition landscape.

The firm’s move follows a recent action by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which announced the suspension of its recognition of the ADC leadership and halted all official dealings with the party pending the outcome of an ongoing court case.

“At a time when Nigerians expect free, fair, and credible elections, any development that disrupts political participation, creates institutional uncertainty, or undermines the perceived independence of electoral bodies must be addressed with urgency and transparency,” the statement added.

Highlighting Nigeria’s strategic importance, the firm noted that the country remains a key partner to the United States in areas such as regional security, economic stability, and counterterrorism.

Nigeria is not only Africa’s largest democracy but also a critical strategic partner of the United States. The integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process is therefore of direct importance to U.S. interests and global stability,” it said.

The firm further disclosed that it would formally present its concerns to both the U.S. Congress and the Trump administration to ensure that issues surrounding Nigeria’s electoral process remain on the global agenda.

“Accordingly, the firm will be presenting its concerns to members of the United States Congress and the Trump Administration to ensure that the importance of free, fair, and transparent democratic processes in Nigeria remains firmly on the international agenda,” the statement added.

You ask, can Seriake Dickson be another Tinubu? My answer to your question, which is in itself another question is, Why would a Dickson want to be a Tinubu? 

Isn't his being Seriake Dickson just enough for the campaign and programs that he has in mind? 

Seriake Dickson is a proud son of the Niger Delta with a pedigree big enough. Why would he want it to be anything other? 

As for his party, the NDC, which I like to call the Niger Delta Congress, it might end up being the key political party of the Niger Delta and all its progressive people. 

You can't win if you try. Right? So lets see how this goes. I believe that it will have a good showing in 2027. In the Niger Delta, and other regions.

Senator Henry Seriake Dickson has formed a political party known as the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC), and he has resigned from the PDP and taken up the role of national leader of NDC. The party was registered in February by INEC, and its first national executive council (NEC) meeting was held last week, a month after its registration. New protem leaders of the party were appointed by the NEC, and they are Senator Moses Cleopas, national chairman and Barr. Ikenna Alex-Morgan Enekweizu, national secretary.

Dickson has spoken of how he will make NDC different in both ideology and governance. From all indications, he would want to build and nurture NDC into a formidable national platform just as President Bola Tinubu created Alliance for Democracy (AD), with other like-minded leaders, in 1998 and built it into a party that won the 2015 presidential elections.

But can Dickson achieve the same feat? The prospects are daunting. A few things that worked for Tinubu in those early days, which contributed to the thriving of his political party, are absent now. AD was a regional party with a base in the south-west of Nigeria. In a press interview soon after he handed over power, Gen. Abdulsalami revealed that AD did not meet some of the basic requirements for registration as a political party, but the military government broke the rules and approved its registration as one of the three registered parties just to appease the Yoruba for their loss during the IBB-Abacha era.

And trust the Yoruba for their “ntiwatiwa” (this is our own) mentality, AD ended up winning governorship elections in all of the six SW states in 1999, producing the following governors: Lagos (Bola Tinubu); Ogun (Segun Osoba); Ondo (Ade Adefarati); Osun (Bisi Akande) and Ekiti (Niyi Adebayo). So in less than one year of its creation, AD had six governors and many other elected officials. It was a big financial and moral boost for the party.

Seriake Dickson does not have that type of fortune, and the circumstances of NDC’s birth are different. Although NDC was registered just about a year before the general election, just as AD was, it is doubtful that it would win the governorship election in his native Bayelsa, let alone the six regional states. The governor of Bayelsa, Douye Diri, is Dickson’s protégé who defected from PDP to APC last year, to the utter disappointment of Dickson. The governorship election in Bayelsa next year will thus be a fight between Dickson and Diri.

If Dickson is defeated, it would be a great psychological blow to him, and NDC might just suffer a stillbirth. APGA was founded by the late Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in 2002, and the following year, Peter Obi emerged as the first elected governor. Since then, the party has won all governorship elections in Anambra, the home state of its founder. That’s why the party is still alive, sometimes winning legislative elections in other south-east states. Dickson will have to fund his party and its activities by himself until such a time as the party wins a governorship race; and in Nigeria, it is the governors who fund and sustain political parties. Bayelsa’s election will be interesting to watch.

The political environment today is also different from the era when AD thrived. Between 2006 and 2013, AD underwent significant inorganic growth, merging with other parties and groups to eventually become APC. It was a herculean and difficult process midwifed and carefully supervised by its National Leader, Tinubu. But in those seven years, the PDP federal government did not in any way deliberately place obstacles to thwart or frustrate the evolution of AD from a regional to a major platform. That golden era is now a distant memory. Today, opposition parties are under serious threat. PDP has been completely weakened and destabilised, and ADC is facing imminent destruction.

The announcement by INEC on Wednesday that it has withdrawn its recognition of the David Mark-led NWC of ADC is quite troubling. President Tinubu will end up being the first Nigerian leader to go for a reelection without an opponent from a major political party. Many people have described this as an Abacha-like game plan. If Dickson founded NDC because PDP was deliberately sabotaged, what’s the guarantee that NDC would fare better? See what happened to Kwakwanso’s NNPP in Kano?

Tinubu’s enormous wealth gave him the needed political clout and social leverage to build wide networks and contacts across the length and breadth of the country, and it helped him to attract membership and support for his party. For eight years after he left office as Lagos governor, he travelled the country bringing new members into the APC and facilitating others to contest elections. In late November 2014, Tinubu visited Uyo to welcome new members who had just defected from the PDP into the APC.

The new members were led by Obong Umana Okon Umana, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, who became the first APC governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State. I was at the Uyo airport with Umana to welcome the APC National Leader and his entourage, and that was my first close contact with him. Tinubu was visibly excited to welcome the new members into the APC at the rally later in the day. I don’t know how wealthy Senator Dickson is, and the extent to which his treasures could be linked to the Bayelsa state government.

But like Tinubu, Dickson served as governor for two terms, but unlike Tinubu, who established media outlets after office, Dickson founded a university, Hensard University, in his village in 2023. Tinubu’s TVC and The Nation newspaper have helped to boost the profile of the political party. How will the university help NDC?

The mood of the nation will also influence how far the NDC goes. Twenty-seven years ago, when AD was formed, the nation was ecstatic about the prospect of unfolding democracy and the promise of a new beginning. The struggle to get the military out was long and bloody, and there were formidable and reputable Nigerians like Alex Ekwueme, Bola Ige, Olu Falae, Victor Attah, Adamu Ciroma, Balarabe Musa, Abubakar Rimi and many others waiting to take over from the military. I lived in Ibadan in 1997 and 1998, and I witnessed the fervency of the Yoruba people as they looked forward to the new dispensation after such a traumatic period.

AD was well-positioned as a Yoruba party and branded as a platform with a strong social welfare orientation. About three decades later, Nigerians are sorely disappointed in the conduct of politicians and tired of the misbehaviour of party leaders. There were three parties in 1999 and over 20 now, and they’re all looking the same. What makes NDC different from the rest of the pack? What’s the ideological orientation, and what message is it going to give to Nigerians? I wish Senator Dickson all the best
