Reps declare PFIPC DG appointment letter fake

ABUJA — The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee investigating the alleged unlawful establishment of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) and the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has declared the appointment letter of the purported Director-General of the council fake.

The committee said its investigation uncovered a network of allegedly forged government documents used to obtain official approvals for the establishment of the council.

Chairman of the committee, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, disclosed this on Tuesday after a hearing, saying evidence obtained from the Nigeria Police Force, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF) and other government agencies confirmed that the letter purportedly appointing Prince Adeyemi as Director-General was not authentic.

Gagdi said the committee also established that the supposed Establishment Act presented to government institutions to facilitate the creation of the agency was allegedly fabricated.

“You have clearly stated that you acted on false documents. The Head of Service has now established, just like we have, that the letter of appointment of the so-called DG is not only forged, it is fake,” he said.

He explained that forensic analysis by the Nigeria Police showed that the signatures on the purported appointment letter did not correspond with authentic signatures from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President.

“If something is forged, there will be an attempt to imitate the signature. But in this case, the signatures are completely different. So I will not call it forged; I will say it is fake because the originator of that letter did not even attempt to imitate the signature of the Chief of Staff to the President,” Gagdi added.

The committee chairman said nine official correspondences from the Office of the Chief of Staff addressed to various government institutions, including the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, National Security Adviser, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Department of State Services, Nigeria Police Force and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were examined.

According to him, the signature on the disputed appointment letter was the only one that differed from the authentic documents reviewed.

Gagdi also alleged that the purported Establishment Act used in processing approvals lacked the required features of a valid National Assembly Act.

“Based on documentary evidence obtained during the investigation and engagements with relevant government institutions, the committee has uncovered what appears to be an extensive pattern of document forgery,” he stated.

Gagdi added that the alleged creation and use of the purported Department of Administration and Support Services under the Office of the Permanent Secretary, State House, would be subjected to further investigation.

He said the committee would hold final closed-door sessions with remaining agencies before presenting its preliminary findings to Nigerians next week.

“The committee remains committed to conducting a thorough, impartial and transparent investigation in the interest of justice, accountability and the protection of public institutions,” he said.

Senator Rufai Hanga, the Deputy Minority Whip of the Senate, representing Kano Central Senatorial District, has resigned his membership from the Nigerian Democratic  Congress NDC.

Hanga announced his resignation in a letter dated August 3, 2026, addressed to the Ward Chairman of the NDC in his ward.

In the letter, the senator said his decision followed careful reflection and personal deliberation, adding that he had decided to withdraw his membership of the party to pursue other personal interests.

He expressed appreciation to the ward executive committee and members of the party for the opportunities, support and fellowship he enjoyed during his time with the NDC.

The letter reads in full “I am writing to formally notify you of my resignation from the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, effective from today, 3rd August 2026.”

After careful reflection and personal deliberation, I have decided to withdraw my membership from the party to pursue other personal commitments and career paths.

I told you in these forums a couple of months ago that Tinubu is currently working on 209 Megawatts of electricity through Solar mini-grids and will soon start delivering more electricity through Nigeria's main grid and voila, Tinubu is set to deliver 60.82 Megawatts out of the 209 Megawatts, while your dumb and incompetent leader called Peter Obidiot is promising a pathetic 10 Megawatts. I don't know what he thinks Nigeria is. He thinks Nigeria is the village where he came from in Anambra State. 

Nigeria has a population of 250 million. 10 Megawatts are not even sufficient for Lagos with a population of about 20 million, talk less of the whole of Nigeria with 250 million people. Like I recommended, Nigeria needs 2 Gigawatts of Electricity which can be achieved through a combination of Solar, Wind and Nuclear energies and Tinubu’s 209 Megawatts Solar project is the closest to my recommendation, not the pitiable 10 Megawatts proposed by your retarded leader from Anambra bush village.  Shame on your dumb leader.

Solar Energy: FG to inject 60.82MW into national grid amid electricity supply challenges

The Federal Government is set to inject a cumulative total of 60.82 megawatts (MW) of solar-generated electricity into the country’s national grid amid power supply challenges.

This comes as the Federal Government on Wednesday commenced the construction of a 13.92 megawatt-peak, MWp interconnected hybrid solar mini-grid project in Yobe State.

Before the Yobe initiative, the government had already developed 46.9MW of power infrastructure across five other states.

DAILY POST reports that the Federal Government had earlier commissioned a 20MW mini-grid in Egume, Kogi State; an 11.9MWp project in Ogu-Bolo, Rivers State; and a 10MW installation in Kofare, Adamawa State.

Similarly, the government had earlier commenced renewable energy projects comprising a 3.5MW mini-grid in Ambursa, Kebbi State, and a 1.5MW project in Pankshin, Plateau State.

Commenting on the development, the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, noted that interconnected hybrid mini-grids are engineered to integrate seamlessly with existing distribution networks.

“We are creating an environment where businesses can grow, young people can innovate, farmers can process more of what they produce, healthcare facilities can provide better services, and local economies can flourish,” he said.

DAILY POST reports that Nigeria has, for decades, struggled to generate a maximum of 6,000MW of electricity despite having a population of over 250 million people.

Electricity supply restored in Abia after week-long outage

Electricity supply has been restored in parts of Abia State after more than a week of outage.

Aba Power disclosed this in a notice on X on Saturday.

Recall that since July 29, the Aba-Ring Fence Area had been hit by a power supply disruption due to a gas supply shortage to the Geometric Aba Power Limited.

However, in an update on Saturday, the plant said gas supply to its turbines had resumed following the repair of damaged components at the facilities of its gas supplier, Heirs Energies.

“We are pleased to inform you that our primary power provider, Geometric Power Aba Limited, GPAL, has resumed turbine operations following the successful repair of the damaged components at the facilities of its gas supplier, Heirs Energies.

“Consequently, we have commenced the systematic restoration of power supply to our customers through our feeders, based on the available generation capacity,” the notice stated.

DAILY POST reports that Aba Power provides electricity to nine of the 17 local government areas in Abia State.

Recall that the Governor of Abia State, on Thursday, vowed to commence the deployment of solar energy to mitigate power supply challenges in the state.
