Nigerian Universities are giving themselves headaches.  GBAM,

This is what happens when Highers School change name overnight to University

All over the place, collecting monies

Handing out graduation papers by the Chief Priest & Overseer called VC

They have too many ONE TEACHER DEPARTMENTS

They do not have the monies to employ + equip + build these departments

Have a TEACHER who knows the subject

Tell students what courses to toke if they offer those courses

Give the student a paper the he/she fulfilled the requirement

Finish

All the Faculty sham is a scam.

They have subject courses as departments

  

OAU Loses Accreditation For Law, Dentistry, Botany And Medical Rehabilitation

The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has lost accreditation for four of the courses offered in the institution.

The National Universities Commission reportedly suspended the university’s law, dentistry, medical rehabilitation, and botany programmes, The Cable reports.

Prospective students who selected any of the four courses in the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination have been asked to change their course or institution.

A message was sent to the candidates by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board to inform them of the changes.

“Your first choice course did not receive accreditation. Login to your profile and change course/institutions,” the message read.

This is not the first time the institution is experiencing this as the accreditation of the Law Faculty was previously withdrawn in 2006.

The Cable notes that there are also reports that botany never got full accreditation since its inception as a course at the university.

The institution’s spokesperson, Mr Abiodun Olarenwaju, confirmed the development to The Cable.

Olarenwaju, however, said the withdrawal of accreditation would be sorted out by September.

“We are going to sort it out, latest by September, and everything will come back to shape,” he was quoted as saying.

What a shame! In my book there are only Ibadan, Nsukka, ABU, Ife, Lagos and Uniben as universities. For Ife to lose accreditation in any school goes to show that what our generation built is now being destroyed by the generation we handed things over to.

It is only four departments but...

UNN lost its accreditation for Medicine and Law few years ago and took time to get it back. Unintended the same. 

We should stop this nonsense ethnic-jingoism and focus on the effect of such on our youths.

Let me ask you a question? OAU. Does that stand for Organization of African Union? No. I remember now. Obafemi Awolowo University. They probably have Obasanjo University. And Adekunle University. And Buhari University. There are only 2 real Universities in the Southwest. University of Ibadan and University of Lagos. If you can’t get admission to the 2, it means you are not cut out for a university. Go to a trade school instead. What a shame, indeed.  The famous Ife university that trained top pharmacists and doctors died when because of idiotic politics foreign crooks in Yoruba, mostly scions of Hausa Fulani changed the name to Awolowo, a highly controversial tribalist who should have been prosecuted as war criminal had he lived.  To make the situation worse, Osun home for the university is APC state under Aregbe as gov.  It was in same Ile Ife, Osun that bokoharam slaughtered many poor people and as at today Aregbe and Tinubu have not condemned the killings and ask for investigation and arrest of the Islamic terrorists.  So are we gonna hear from these foreign crooks, sitting on poor people in the Southwest, about collapse of one of the premier academia in South?  Well, we wait and see.

We knew that Ife has had a failing law department for years. That university granted law degrees to Ayo Ojutalayo and IBK. Any school that would grant those celebrated dunces law degrees must have its accreditation re-examined.

My Brother Vince,

If you count universities in Nigeria, you will see OAU as one, if not the leading, of the best institutions in Nigeria. Its a school that does not take nonsense or hide/defend indiscipline. A very close example is how they dealt decisively with recent sex for marks scandal that broke out.
This scandal exists in all higher institutions in the country but rather than deal with it, other institutions are protecting and hiding their criminals. Many of the institutions would rather turn against the victim student rather than deal with the culprit. But  Ife is prompt and alive to the responsibility of  a credible institution.

If we look closely at this accreditation failure, its possible someone has refused to offer some bribes or the bribes offered was considered inadequate or too small.

Nigeria civil service is no more a congregation of humans but a dangerous den for thieves and robbers.
