As someone mentioned 123 strays in our compound is alarming for a 30 acres area

That means these strays have been migrated from other areas to our compound so we need to shift them to respective areas as per the law and ecosystem

Santosh and group so knowledgable should have a headcount with the original nos and current nos  and share with the group

The rule book is made to stop cruelty towards animals and facilitate pets to live with families
majority in here are animal lovers and don't mind pets with a little enforcement on hygiene but again majority agree that nuisance as well as no of strays have increased and child safety and hygiene with adverse affects on health is a big issue

Compassionate residents supporting strays even if hygiene and child safety is compromised are on other side of extremism and attitude showing rule book and will create a sense of negativity amongst otherwise neutral people

Practically u cannot teach toddlers and kids how to react to strays twice their size

When it comes to kids vs strays no matter what law says, we will protect our kids
here the issue is stray supporters have not been through the situation their kids

I had pets and love them but I personally have been through a situation where my kids almost got bitten by strays
now my kids don't venture out to meet their friends along and even if accompanied with maids will take routes to avoid stray gangs

This lack of freedom is big concern for our otherwise fantastic open spaces and gardens

Appreciate efforts of santosh and group but if 123 is the nos of strays then they have miserably failed in the situation to control stray infiltration and somewhere there needs a line to be drawn to protect kids and action taken
we 2000 residents if we shell out 50 Rs a month from our maintenance bills that mounts to 1 lacs a month and can sponsor a amazing stray home where more care is taken and can be a win win situation

Don't know if it's practical

Hi,

I am an animal lover to the core of my heart. But we have to draw a line where we cannot risk our children.

Immediate action is required to stop the nuisance of stray dogs. (They can be sent to pet homes where more care will be taken)

Hi All

I would probably be the most hated person to state that "I hate anything with 4 legs". I have a reason because my son was attacked by one when he was just year and a half old. Years on he would cross the road when he sees a dog, even on a leash. There are so many toddlers in the society who deserve absolute safe playing by themselves.

Hence action needs to be taken and stop listening to NGO's.

We need to get all the strays outside the complex . If someone wants to adopt any stray , they are most welcome but then the stray must be taken to that persons house and kept there . We can't risk our kids limbs for this . Most societies even have wire fence put on all the main gates so that strays do not squeeze in from the gates to the complex . There are more strays even entering the complex from lilac laurel side . nahar group must once again keep sentries to get rid of this nuisance.

its shocking to know we have 123 strays in our compound !

On sunday evening - i saw 3-4 kids trying to befriend a dog in front of Allamanda - Arum - and as they were trying to pet the dog- the dog jumped at them and growled instead... they got scared and ran off...this is the current situation as there so many dogs and they get angry as dogs are territorial by nature .

twice my friend and i have encountered a lady who brings about 3-4 pots and bowls of food which includes chicken/ mutton and feeding the dogs in front of Iris- Ivy (not sure what the vegetarians in Iris- Ivy think of this feeding of non-veg bang in front of their lobby ).. we requested her to please feed the dogs outside the gates as more and more strays seem to come for these feeding sessions - she REFUSED TO LISTEN - yesterday the supervisor  from the Utility office also spoke to her and she was pretty rude to him too. When asked why she doesnt feed the dogs in front of Lilium- lantana (as she is from this Society) she had NO answer .

Nowadays increasingly more and more residents are walking their pets in the garden - if they carry poop bags we see no sign of it - i also saw the dog peeing on the grass - this is the same grass that the small kids walk on and play ! the guards turn a blind eye as the pet owners shout at them .

1. are we waiting for the day when a resident or a child gets bitten by a stray to take some action ?
2. did we pay a premium for the garden only to have a garden where we cant walk without fear of stepping on poop ? or our kids playing on grass that has been peed on by the dogs ?
3. once the monsoon starts then the residents will start walking their pets in the parking area and dogs will be pooping here - how can these residents have such total disregard for others despite all the signboards put up everywhere to clean up after your pet? its very well to blame the strays for this poop - but how come in the monsoon the quantum of poop in the parking areas triples that you cant step out of your car without stamping on poop ? obviously the pets have contributed to this!   if these same residents can clean the poop while living abroad then whats the problem doing it in India ? there are poop dustbins stalled on the pillars in the parking which never seem to be used .

I too am an animal lover but this situation is becoming worse day by day for us the residents and our kids  ..request the pet owners group led by Santosh Rane in the 8 Towers  to please regroup and come out with some set of rules and regulations like what was done before that enabled them to control the strays population and keep our garden clean ..

Hoping for some action to be taken

Regards

I do agree that stray dogs are increasingly becoming a nuisance. They soil the place and they do defend their territories and do chase people esp inside parking. Over my tenure here, I can see that their numbers have only increased. This doesn't support the sterilisation theory.

I have also seen pigs running about in the parking area.

As residents of Nahar, we deserve something better than this.

The fact is that Stray Dogs are creating a nuisance in the premises, since they get feed, there is incentive for them to stay within the compound and potentially external strays also coming in to the compound. Feeding strays is counterproductive, either once has a pet or does not have a pet, but this centre of left position is certainly not helping.

Based on visual proof it is very clear that none of the initiatives are effective, walking with in R12, once has to keep an keen eye not to step of poop of the dogs/pets.

Kids and people do get chased.

Dear all
I was told by one of the dog lovers that the following initiatives have been taken with regard to stray dogs. starting with ..there are 123 starys in the compound!!
1. They are fed to refrain them from chasing kids for food
2. They are given anti rabbies shots
3. Males are castrated/ bitches are operated ( I am not sure which one is being done) to reduce the population
4. One assistant  is engaged to cover the poos left by strays.

I observe
1. Only very few pet owners carry Poo bags
2. servants taking pets for a "walk" never carry poo bags
3. They merrily "dirty " lawns

I suggest that Pet owners shall strictly enforce the discipline as outlined earlier by Santosh Rane

Santosh
request you to restart the campaign

Dear All,

I agree with Sonali Ji. I have observed the dogs chasing people or fighting amount themselves and creating a nuisance on a regular basis. Not to mention the filth created by the Stray dogs and sometime by the pets in the parking and all around the R12. Somethings needs to be done about this.

I have full regards for pet lovers and appreciate pet owners (there are quite few) who manage their pets, I like to see pets around like the next person but, there are some pet owners who are simply uncourteous.

There are quite a few of us who believe in feeding the stray docs, appreciate the gesture but that harmless and selfless gesture is creating a problem for others, we cannot expect everyone to be friendly towards pets/dogs some of us may be even scared of these harmless creatures. Harmless they may be, however rights of all individuals have to be respected and taken care off. In the past there has been a lot of talk and debate about the rights of the pets and pet owners, however somehow the rights or residents seems to be secondary and rights of pets primary, this has to change we all have to coexist.

I can only request the pet owners and those good souls feeding the strays to be a little more courteous and conscious of their actions and impact that the there actions may and may not have on other residents.

Dear sir,

I am Sonali Gandhi resident of Tulipia 603.In recent days many residents are facing lot of trproblems due to increasing number of dog(stray and pet both).

Few of them listed below.

1.Stray dogs barks ,snatches bag in hope of its carrying eatables,as security guard dog lovers feed them regularly. This nuisance is more in morning time when children go to school.Three dogs barking ,chasing children and two wheelers is usual site in tulipia and yarrow-yucca circle. My child faces it daily.

2.This is regarding pet dogs. One corner in podium garden, backside of yarrow and in front of tulipia, has become a favourite spot for pet dogs.Their owners bring them around 9-9.30. to 10-10.30.these dogs collectively bark make quite a big noise, daily this is quite annoying .They shit there ,ya agree owners clean it with tissue but still its not hygienic.

3.Parking area is full of dog shits. This is both pet and stray.

please do take some serious measures.

Regards
