Sad news about Brighty

Friends,

Its heart breaking to announce the passing away of Brighty yesterday at 12.30 p.m. She was such a sweet dog, very docile and intelligent.    I wish she did not have these grievous illnesses. But So is life, I guess.

I want to thank all of you in helping and supporting Brighty during her treatment.

Yesterday, when Anjali, Jeff and I rushed Brighty to IDA, we were again witnessed to the sheer misery that strays go through.  Some of their injuries are unspeakable. Their howling and suffering is what nightmares are made of. As Anjali pointed out, there is so much great work being done by the IDA staff on such misery afflicted creatures and in such an appalling shelter for strays.  It is a filthy place, the stench is unbearable. In these conditions, the IDA staff are working day in and day out. Hats off to them. We should think of making donations to IDA staff welfare and welfare of IDA itself.

This only reaffirms our work on neutering strays in our area on a war footing.  I urge more people to come forward and volunteer in assisting the IDA when they come to catch our strays for neutering. I know there are reservations in some of our minds on darting. But this is the fastest way to catch the strays and it is safe.  Lets not put obstacles in the way of IDA staff while they are doing the work of rounding up the strays for neutering.

I am preparing the expense sheet on Brighty's treatment and will circulate to all of you in a few days.

Indeed very sad to know about Brighty. Hopefully she is in a better place. Thank you for sharing your experience about IDA and the excellent work they are doing under such apalling circumstances. I agree that neutering is the most effective way to decrease the stray population and we should all support IDA and all other organizations that do this, even if we have personal reservations regarding darting. As animal lovers we understand that ultimately it is for the benefit of the stray. Could you please let us know howto contribute to IDA?

3: If our pet by chance poops in society premises, please clean the mess with a old news paper and dispose the same in the wastebin.
 
Lets maintain a clean and healthy enviornment for both pets and people around.

Thanks.

You can donate by issuing a crossed cheque in favour of In Defense of Animals, India.   Every week IDA staff come to our complex to catch and drop strays so you can send the cheque to me I will hand it over to IDA. I will get the acknowledgement and receipt for the same.

Hi,

Would request the lady who forced my child to get down on 12th floor to please get in touch with me.

I'm referring to the incident at around 11.30 AM today, where my child was rushing our puppies to veterinary after they fell ill.

The said lady insisted on my daughter getting off the lift despite her pleading that puppies are unwell and she is taking them to Doctor and she was forced to walk down 12 stairs carrying the pups as she couldn't wait for service lift.

I take objection to the fact that

1. You quoted non existent rule that pets cannot be taken in lift

2. You bullied a child to get off the lift

Very sorry to hear this Maithreyi. I am sure the said lady can be counseled about the rules so she knows better. Perhaps the knowledge of even the lobby attendants and mgt in this regard should be increased through a meeting/ circular.

I empathise with you and your family.

I just don't agree to forcing any pet owner to take their pets in a specific lift and intimidate a small child to leave the lift with the pet mid way. How arrogant! 

Please forward this mail to your residents' egroup / Apartment adda group and give it in writing to your Managing Committee about this incident immediately and take an acknowledgement.

No blanket rule can be passed by any registered Co.op. society or Adhoc Society because few members dislike pets travelling with them in lift.
