I'm out here in California and I wear Levi's or an Historically correct-type heavy, jean-like cotton pants from a supplier such as Hamilton Dry Goods or others. Truth is, 100% wool pants are pretty cool in the summer. I stay completely away from polyester or poly blend clothes, especially for shirts or vests. I find them very hot.
I wear David Taylor light-weight denim trousers from Sears. They are light blue or dark blue and I wear'em with "snap link" suspenders that hook on the belt loops. They are very thin and light and they're also roomy and very comfortable.
I also wear light-weight jeans made by Wrangler. They are dark or light blue and they're called "stretch jeans." They look like regular jeans but the denim is very light weight and thinner than the regular jeans. They are also very comfortable.
I have 2 pair of pants I bought from them--one is called "outlaw stripe trousers" and the other is called "frontier trousers", both Frontier Classics brand. Wild West Mercantile always has sales going on and sometimes Frontier Classics pants are included. The ones I have are much lighter weight than the heavy canvas Wahmakers I also have, which I wear mainly during the winter months, when the temperature here in SW Louisiana gets down into the 50's or even 40's.
