In the mid of the month of Ramadan, the 3rd year of Hijrah, a son was born in the house of Imam Ali (A.S.). The Prophet (P.B.U.H), on behalf of Almighty God, named him Hassan (A.S.). Imam Hassan ( A.S.) was brought up in the lap of his father Ali (A.S.) and mother Fatima Zahra (S.A.) and learnt lessons from the school of his grandfather.
He had a great worth and status in the eyes of the Prophet (P.B.U.H .). Such as, one day he (P.B.U.H.) was on the tribune, delivering a speech to the people, he heard the voice of his weeping. He came down from the tribune, went to calm him down, and then returned to his place. When the people asked him the reason for this act. He said, "Whenever I hear the voice of his weeping I get restless".
The Prophet (P.B.U.H.), having offered his prayer along with the people, would lift Imam Hassan (A.S.) into his lap and would say, "Whosoever loves me, must love this child as well". Sometimes, he lifted this child upon his shoulder and said, "It is hoped that God will purify this Ummah through him". Or he would say, "Whosoever loves Hassan ( A.S.) and Hussain (A.S.) he loves me and whosoever nurses grudge and has enmity against them has enmity with me". "Hassan (A.S.) and Hussain (A.S.) are the two chiefs of the youths of the paradise". Then he said, Hassan ( A.S.) and Hussain (A.S.) are the two earrings of the Empyrean, paradise of God takes pride and potentates due to them.
The Imam was brought up in line with Islam's teachings by his grandfather the Holy Prophet (SAW), his father Imam Ali (AS) and his mother Fatima Zahra (AS).
Imam Hassan (A.S.) is reported to have said:
"Be obedient to Allah and have faith in Him. The loftiness of those who know the greatness of Allah is expressed in their modesty. The safety of those who know the power of Allah is expressed in their surrender to Him. Do not be influenced by the ignorant. Seek knowledge from its bearers. They are the light with which one can enlighten oneself."

Below are some questions Imam was asked, with the responses that came from the Imam:

* What is asceticism?
The desire to be pious in this life.

* What is Forbearance?
Restraining ones anger and controlling oneself.

* What is righteousness?
Replacing the bad with the good.

* What is succor?
Defending your neighbor, to be patient in war and advance during adversities.

* What is manliness?
Holding on to faith, keeping one's self respect, being merciful, being kind, giving back peoples trusts

* What is the distance between the sky and the heaven?
The prayer of the wronged, replied the Imam

These are only a glimpse of the Holy Imam's vast and deep knowledge

 HIS WISE SAYINGS

"There is no poverty like ignorance". (Bihar al-Anwaar)

"Teach others your knowledge and learn the knowledge of others so you will bring your knowledge to perfection and learn something which you do not know". (Bihar al-Anwaar)

A person once asked Imam Al-Hasan (a.s.), "What is generosity and magnanimity?" Imam (a.s.) replied, "To protect the religion; self-respect; softness of conduct (gentleness in behaviour); and consistency in favour, kindness and the discharging of rights (of others)". (Bihar al-Anwaar)
