For long-term fans of Bosch, there was one final surprise in the terrific season finale of Amazon Freevee's spin-off series, Bosch: Legacy as viewers were treated to a cameo appearance from the late, dearly missed Lance Reddick. Reddick, whose character, Capt. Irvin Irving was a mainstay, tenuous friend, often foe and regular presence in the shadows of Titus Welliver's Harry Bosch.

Besides the Connelly series, Harry Bosch has made cameo appearances in books by Paula Woods, Joe Gores, and Robert Crais.[7] Likewise, during an October 16, 2008 book-signing in San Mateo, California, to promote The Brass Verdict, Michael Connelly informed the audience that Bosch also appeared in a cameo, without identification, in Connelly's novel Chasing the Dime.

I remember hearing a rumor (lol) that the voice actors for the students in this scene are Johnny Yong Bosch and Yuri Lowenthal doing a cameo, and it sounds like it could be them... but I legit do NOT remember where I heard this from and haven't been able to find any info verifying it. Does anyone know anything about this?

On 6 February 2014, Connelly appeared in a wordless cameo role as an arrested Santa Claus in the pilot episode of the streaming Amazon series Bosch. He also participated in the first episode of the behind-the-scenes podcast series, "The Origins," along with Henrik Bastin, as well as "pod-crashing" the sixth and final episode of the series, "The Suspect," which featured Jason Gedrick.

In the Season 2 episode "The Thing About Secrets," Harry and Lt. Grace Billets (Amy Aquino) have a drink at the Catalina Jazz Club as Grace Kelly performs "Blues For Harry Bosch." The Catalina also has a cameo in the Season 7 opener, when Harry is on a New Year's Eve date and Grammy Award winning jazz pianist John Beasley is on stage.

There's a big reveal in Season 5's "Raise the Dead," when Harry meets retired detective Anthony Servidone (Jerry O'Donnell) for a drink at the Frolic. In Season 6, the Frolic has a cameo in the opener and pops up again in "Money, Honey" when Harry has another meeting with Servidone.

Ballard's inspiration Det. Mitzi Roberts is a 25-year veteran in the LAPD, having served in the elite Robbery-Homicide Division and is currently an investigator in the Cold Case Homicide Unit. Many retired detectives still work Cold Cases to close previously unsolved homicides. She was instrumental in arresting Samuel Little in 2012, a serial killer who confessed to murdering 93 women over more than two decades. She has served as a technical advisor for the show, often correcting the writers so they didn't write "TV stuff" and moving them towards a more authentic and accurate depiction of police work. She also had cameo appearances on the show. Amy Aquino has imitated her mannerisms when she played Bosch's boss, Lieutenant Billings, in the original show. Roberts also trained Maddie Lintz so she would run and move like a cop authentically when Maddie Bosch becomes a rooker LAPD officer in Bosch: Legacy. The Cold-Case unit Roberts works in inspired the unit that the retired Bosch currently volunteers for in the novels.
