The new gradient tool is useful as we don't always nail the gradient the first time, but it seems impossible to add multiple gradients to one mask now. When I try to draw out a second gradient on a mask that already has one it replaces the first. This seems like a massive oversight on Photoshop's part and maybe ( hopefully ) there's something I'm missing here.. hopefully someone can shed some light on it before I have to revert back to the previous version so I can get some work done..
You cannot use color gradients on a mask, it has to be black or white or gray. That brings up another issue, when you use x or d shortcuts or click the color flip button to flip black and white it no longer flips the gradient from black to transparent to white to transparent. I hate being an inadvertent Adobe beta tester when using a new "Stable" release.. *smh*
Found the option to get back the classic gradient tool, thank you. Additionally it seems to be a decent workaround to my problem for now to use the new gradient tool for my first, then flipping to classic to refine the mask further using additional gradients. Hopefully Adobe fixes this issue in the next update.
In Photoshop 25 it IS possible to add multiple gradients to one mask. However, you can only adjust the last gradient you've initiated. In essence, it "bakes" the previous gradients onto the mask. So if you wanted to "stack" a bunch of gradients on the same mask only the last one is editable; just like "Classic" mode.
