Micropolis Holding, a Dubai-based developer of autonomous mobile robots and related software, filed on Friday with the SEC to raise up to $37 million in an initial public offering.

The Dubai, United Arab Emirates-based company plans to raise $37 million by offering 8.2 million shares at a price range of $4 to $5. At the midpoint of the proposed range, Micropolis Holding would command a market value of $172 million.

Micropolis is a robotics manufacturer that specializes in developing autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) that utilize wheeled electric vehicle platforms and are equipped with autonomous driving capabilities. The company's product offerings are organized into three main categories: AMRs; operating software, which includes autonomous driving software, fleet mission planner, and user bespoke software development services; and electronic control units and power storage units. Micropolis is currently pre-revenue, since most of its existing projects are collaborative, and it does not anticipate earning substantial revenues until it enters into commercial production, expected by the end of 2024.

Micropolis Holding was founded in 2014 and plans to list on the NYSE though it has not selected a symbol yet (RC ticker: MCRO.RC). The company filed confidentially on October 16, 2023. Network 1 Financial Securities is the sole bookrunner on the deal.

The vision of the Center of Excellence is to promote educational and research activities in the field of AI and Robotics. It bridges the gap between businesses and educators with a distinctive capability to harness the intellectual energy of the academic world with state-of-the-art AI and robotics technologies.

The GEMS Dubai American Academy Center of Excellence has a range of cutting-edge technologies such as Mixed Reality Zone featuring Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR), and Augmented Reality (AR) manufactured hardware from Facebook, Microsoft and HTC, with software like Unity 3D. The Center also features a Self-Driving Car, an autonomous customized Renault Twizy fully electric car.

In the Robotics segment, the Center showcases the Baxter Robotic Arm, a collaborative research robotic arm, capable of advanced facial recognition and machine learning using industry grade ROS (Robot Operating System) and Python coding; and Assembly Line Robotic Arms, a Dobot Magician robotic arm industry 4.0 setup, mimicking an assembly line using varied end effectors such as grippers, suction cup as well as laser engravers.

GEMS Dubai American Academy (DAA) is set for remarkable campus additions. The plan involves a new student wellbeing center, middle school building, upgraded sports facilities, improved student canteen, and sustainable additions to the already cutting-edge campus.

Faculty from electrical and computer engineering, psychology, and computer science from NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) and NYU New York established the Center for AI and Robotics (CAIR) at NYUAD to conduct fundamental research and develop applications in AI and robotics. Its research areas include the processing and fusion of data from sensors to perceive the surroundings of the robot and intention of moving objects, path planning and navigation in unknown environments, coordination of multi-agent systems formed by groups of robots, brain-machine interfaces, autonomous decision-making, and robotic safety and resiliency.

**The rise of the robot revolution has the potential increased productivity and economic growth.**Off the back of this, Dubai has launched a robotics and automation programme, led by the Dubai Future Foundation, to grow its future economy.

The programme was announced by the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He revealed the move looks to advance the emirate to become one of the top 10 cities in robotics and automation globally.

Commenting on the announcement, Scott Livermore, the Chief Economist and Managing Director of Oxford Economics Middle East stated there need to be several pillars to achieve this. He noted, if there is a comprehensive set of policies aimed at supporting investment in privatization and utilization, and a continuation of policies to attract foreign investment and foreign talent, then the policy could be a significant success.

With robotisation comes lower production costs, a wider variety in goods and services as well as creating new jobs. As a part of the programme, 200,000 robots will be deployed over the next 10 years across the services, logistics, and industrial sectors.

As the move looks to adopt and develop the latest robotics technologies, empower local talent, and generate innovative new solutions, whether we like it or not, AI and automation is set to be a part of our daily lives and their prevalence is only set to grow.
