How to Install and Configure Inventor Engineer-to-Order 2014 Server
Inventor Engineer-to-Order (ETO) is a software solution that helps you automate the design and manufacturing of customized products. It allows you to create rules-based applications that generate 3D models, drawings, bills of materials, and other documents based on customer specifications.
Inventor ETO Server is the component that runs the applications and communicates with the Inventor ETO Designer and Client. It also includes Autodesk Inventor Server, which provides the core functionality of Autodesk Inventor with no user interface.
In this article, we will show you how to install and configure Inventor ETO Server 2014 on your computer. We will also explain how to set up a network license server and use an options file to manage your licenses.
Installation Steps
- Download the Inventor ETO Server 2014 setup file from the Autodesk website or use the installation media provided by Autodesk.
- Run the setup file and follow the instructions on the screen. You will need to accept the license agreement, choose a destination folder, and select the components to install. By default, Inventor ETO Server is installed to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor ETO Server 2014\.
- After the installation is complete, you will need to activate your product using a network license. You will need to specify the name or IP address of your license server and the port number (usually 2080). If you don't have a license server yet, you will need to set one up using the Network License Manager software provided by Autodesk.
Configuration Steps
- To configure your Inventor ETO Server, you will need to use the Intent Services Configurator utility, which is located in the Start menu under Autodesk > Autodesk Inventor ETO Server 2014 > Intent Services Configurator. Alternatively, you can launch it directly from C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor ETO Server 2014\Bin\.
- The Intent Services Configurator allows you to perform various tasks related to your server, such as:
- Configure applications on the local server. You can add, edit, or remove applications that run on your server. You can also specify the application settings, such as name, description, version, icon, etc.
- Specify additional application servers. You can add or remove other servers that host applications that you want to access from your server. You can also specify the server settings, such as name, address, port number, etc.
- View error logs. You can view the log files that record any errors or warnings that occur on your server. You can also filter or export the log data.
- View and manage session connections to the server. You can view the current sessions that are connected to your server. You can also disconnect or terminate any session if needed.
- To connect to another server, you will need to enter the server name and administration service address in the Intent Services Configurator. The administration service address is the WCF endpoint address of the server. The default value is usually sufficient, but you can change it if needed.
Licensing Steps
- Inventor ETO Server uses Session-Specific Network Licensing, which means that each session that connects to your server consumes one license from your license pool. The license is released when the session ends or times out.
- To set up a network license server, you will need to use the Network License Manager software provided by Autodesk. You will need to install it on a computer that acts as your license server and configure it with your license file. You will also need to activate your licenses online or offline using your serial number and product key.
- To manage your licenses more effectively, you can use an options file to specify various parameters for your license server. For example, you can:
- Create an options file using a text editor and save it in the same folder as your license file.
- Create a report log to monitor the usage of your licenses.
