Subject: [nadd] Announcement from Fordham University
Dear Colleague:
We would like to make you aware of two opportunities to add courses on trauma to your curriculum. Both courses have been developed by the National Center for Social Work Trauma Education and Workforce Development in collaboration with the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. The first, "Core Concepts in Trauma Treatment for Children and Adolescents" is designed for MSW students in their advanced year -primarily in mental health practice but applicable to other settings (schools) as well. It has been taught in over a dozen schools this past year. The second, "Core Concepts for Trauma Informed Child Welfare Practice" is designed for MSW students in their advanced year, and has been offered in five schools over the past year.
Descriptions of both are attached. (See attached file: Course description 2011-2012.docx)(See attached file: Child Weflare Course 2011-2012.docx)
We invite your school to consider offering one of these courses. Access to the course material, which includes five well-developed cases, is possible through participation in a faculty learning collaborative. These are organized to orient faculty to the problem- based learning methodology involved in implementing the course as well as to the content.
Registration forms for the learning collaboratives are also attached. (See attached file: Trauma Treatment Registration Form.docx)(See attached file: Trauma Informed Child Welfare Registration Form.docx)
If you are interested, please contact Dr Strand or Dr. Abramovitz for further information We will be happy to discuss the courses and learning collaborative process with you and also, if your would like, put you in touch with faculty from schools which have participated in the learning collaboratives and taught the course in the past year.
Thank you very much.
Best,
