you are right, I too have been wondering where Dr Marar is. If his
mail ID was correct then he should have joined lonmg ago. Does anyone

In many developing countries, governments are facing increasing pressure to improve the quality of the health care delivery system, particularly in the light of renewed commitments to enhance the equity and equality. Systematic development of healthcare standards, training of staff and effective monitoring, supervision mechanism and strategic planning and effective utilization of resources can help in improving the quality of health care services. With this background, a special issue of the journal of Health Management is research for strengthening the quality of health systems in developing countries. The topics may include:

 

  • Quality of health programmes.
  • Benchmarking the hospitals and healthcare services
  • Accreditation of hospitals and health systems
  • Evaluation of hospital and healthcare services/programmes
  • Public-private partnership for enhancing access, equity, quality and efficiency.
  • Six Sigma in hospital settings
  • Role of Insurance in improving Quality of hospital care
  • Role of NGOs in managing efficiency, accountability etc.

The JHM is published by Sage Publication, New Delhi and has wide circulation wordwide.

 

The issue would be primarily useful for health professionals who have been involved in assessment of healthcare quality, health system planner, managers, academicians and and those who work for ministries of health, governmental agencies, international organization, implementing agencies, public health institutions, and non-governmental organizations.

 

The papers submitted will be peer-reviewed under the ‘blind-review’ process. Submissions are invited for the special issue. Contributors are requested to adhere to the following guidelines:

 

  1. The text should be in double space in 12-points size with 1.5 inch margins on all sides on 8.5"X11" (A4) size paper.
  2. The manuscript should be accompanied with an abstract of the article along with a brief autobiographical sketch of the author(s) on separate sheets.
  3. Tables and charts should bear self-explanatory titles.
  4. References should be arranged in alphabetical order and must conform to the following guidelines:
    1. References in the text should appear as: Shah (1998) has demonstrated. ……or Recent studies (Shah, 1998: Thomas, 1999) indicate…..
    2. References to the journal should be listed as Shah. A. (1997), "Black, Merton and Scholes: Their Work and its consequences" Economic and Political Weekly, December 27, 1997, pp3337-3342.
    3. Books should be referred to as: Hull. J., (1996), Future, options and other derivatives. Prentice Hall of India, New Delhi
    4. An abiding condition for publication of an article or research paper in the journal is that the manuscripts have not been submitted for publication or are published elsewhere. No part of the publications contained herein are reproduced, stored in a retrieval system or transmitted in any form or by any means –electronic, electrostatic, magnetic tape, photocopying, recording or otherwise without permission in writing from the publisher/editor.

Since you all are an expert of healthcare quality have contributed significantly in the area of healthcare quality we request you to send your research  publications.  All your manuscript should be send to the undersigned latest by July 15, 2008.
