NVDA Add-on (placeMarkers)
NAB Delhi Helpline
PlaceMarkers is an NVDA add-on used to save and search specific text strings or placemarkers in browse mode. It works on web pages, documents, and multi-line edit controls. Saved placemarkers are stored automatically based on the document title and URL.
Important
If you are using SpecificSearch or Bookmark and Search add-ons, uninstall them first because they use similar shortcuts.
Main Keyboard Commands
• Control + Shift + NVDA + F
Open search dialog for saved text.
• Control + Shift + NVDA + Y
Save current position as a placemarker.
• Control + Shift + NVDA + Delete
Delete placemarker at current position.
• NVDA + Y
Move to next placemarker.
• Shift + NVDA + Y
Move to previous placemarker.
• Alt + NVDA + Y
Open list of saved placemarkers for the current document.
Check Complete Add-on Information
1. Press Insert + N to open NVDA menu.
2. Press T for Tools.
3. Press A for Add-on Store.
4. Press Down Arrow until you reach your installed add-on, or type placeMarkers to search.
5. Press Tab to go to the Actions button.
6. Press Space to activate.
7. Press Down Arrow until Help.
8. Press Enter to read full details.
Steps to Install This Add-on
1. Press Insert + N to open NVDA menu.
2. Press T for Tools.
3. Press A for Add-on Store.
4. Press Control + Tab to move to Available add-ons.
5. Press Down Arrow to find placeMarkers, or type its name to search.
6. Press Tab to reach the Actions button.
7. Press Space to activate.
8. Press Down Arrow to Install.
9. Press Enter. Wait for installation.
10. Press Tab to Close button and press Space.
11. When NVDA asks to restart, select Yes and press Space. If Yes is not selected, press Tab until Yes, then press Space.
After restart, the add-on will be ready to use.
