I purchased the ArcGIS for student use package however I think I may have made an error in my purchase. I was able to activate ArcGIS desktop fine using my activation code however I am unable to access ArcGIS pro as I need licensing permissions from my organisation. I was under the assumption that the student use package was for personal use in that I wouldn't need any external permissions, or am I mistaken and should I have purchased the personal use edition? Any guidance in getting ArcGIS Pro running would be greatly appreciated as I am extremely confused.

Are you at an academic institution? If so, your ArcGIS Pro licensing would be delivered via your Institutions ArcGIS Online (AGOL) organizational accout. They would provide you with the installation packages for ArcGIS Pro. Your licensing would be by named user linked to the AGOL account.

Not clear if you would pick up a Named User license or Single Use license for ArcGIS Pro as an Authorization code from My.Esri--or if you would get a Named User associated to your AGOL public account.

My guess is, as Stuart mentioned, setup for the student edition is similar to personal. You will most likely need to set up an arcgis online account. It is "your" organization then (just not an enterprise) where you are the only names-used...level 2, so you can do everything.

check out ArcGIS Pro Resources Esri And then the "more information" link at the end of the list of items you get. That opens up -started-with-arcgis-pro.pdf There is info about steps to get started and installed. I did not see the same link in the student page ArcGIS For Student Use But would think it is the same.

Actually institutions are supposed to be able to license the ArcGIS Pro through single-use, concurrent use, or named user license. An EVA code should act as a single-use license. Students shouldn't have to log with to the ArcGIS Online account to license their software.

Across the US, high school and middle school students are exploring their world and creating interesting map products using ArcGIS Online. Esri now challenges students to create and share maps about some topic in their home state, working to be among the best in the school, state, and nation.

The ArcGIS Online School Competition is open to US high school (9-12) and middle school (4-8) students who can analyze, interpret, and present data via an ArcGIS Online presentation, web app, or story map.

Entrants must be registered in a recognized public, private or home school in grades 4-12 and must be 18 years of age or less. Students can work singly or in teams of two but can participate in only one entry. Teams with a student in middle school and a student in high school will be entered in the high school competition. Any school may submit a maximum of 5 total entries. This limit of 5 includes the sum of middle school and high school entries.

For an opportunity to receive mentoring feedback, please submit draft entry by March 10, 2024. Submissions will receive feedback and be able to resubmit by the contest deadline in May.

One year student licenses for ArcGIS Desktop are no longer supported by ESRI for our institution. We recommend you use ArcGIS Pro. Users can authenticate to AGOL or ArcGIS Pro using FSU IDs.

Instructions here:

WCNR students may download the ArcGIS Pro software from for installation on their personally owned device if desired. Access to the software download site requires logging in with CSU eID credentials. WCNR students with a macOS-based computer have access to the software from off campus via our Remote Computer Lab.

The computers in the WCNR computer labs, including the Remote Computer Lab, use a WCNR license server for ArcGIS Pro so an individually provided license is not required. However, using ArcGIS Online in the computer labs will require the use of the individual student account.

I am trying to create / host new surveys in Survey123 with a 1-year student license. Right now when I try to create a survey at I get the statement: "You don't have access to this feature. Required privileges: publish hosted feature layers create new item". Similarly, if I try to link Survey123 Connect (the desktop version of Survey123) to my ArcGIS Online account, it says I do not have permission. The end goal is to create a public survey to crowd source data.

A 1-year student licence includes Survey123, so your Esri subscription isn't the problem here. The issue is that your organisation administrator hasn't given you the privileges to create and publish new content. You need to make sure that your account has been given the 'Creator' user type and 'Publisher' role. This allows you to create new content, including survey forms and feature layers. You can find out more about user types and roles in ArcGIS online here: -online/reference/roles.htm.

After exporting a CAD file from ARCGIS 10.6.1 I have discovered that when opening in AutoCAD LT 2019 it says it was created from a student version of Autocad - Wrong!! I am getting increasingly frustrated with CAD 2019 - it does the same on my Mac when creating a DWG in Draftsight.

I now have a brand new PC - nothing on it apart from AutoCAD 2019 and ArcGIS 10.6.1 - nothing else downloaded. I need to resolve this - I cant send out CAD files to clients that look as if I'm using student version of CAD!

Attached is a file I started in DRAFTSIGHT 2018 using only commands from inside that program, saved it as a DWG file, opened and saved it in LT2019.1.2 and plotted it. NO EDU STAMP. And no alert it is from EDU software, just the "not an autodesk software" warning.

ArcGIS creates a CAD dwg from the GIS data alone - in this case line data from OS GIS mapping. At this point the data hasn't seen a piece of CAD software - it's life is so far has been GIS data only. Within the programme you can export the data to CAD - and it's that dwg that opens in 2019 as having been created in a student version of CAD - which it hasn't!

Software is available to active students only. Graduates and students on leave will lose access to the software items on this page. Any work saved in these programs may not be recoverable. Backup all files to a personally-owned computer before leaving the university.

To install the Windows desktop version of ArcGIS, first create an account as described above and then continue with the following steps. ESRI does not support non-Windows operating systems at this time.

Avast Antivirus is free Mac OS anti-virus software available for personally owned computers. Anti-virus software is required when connecting to the campus ResNet. Click for ResNet Safe Connect info.
