My mouse cursor keeps changing to four black outward facing arrows with a circle in the centre. I don't know how I keep doing this but I can't seem to turn it off once it's on! Anyone have any idea how to switch it back to the usual one, I can't do much after it changes and have to start a new workflow all over again. Thanks.

If you simply press the space bar with the designer as the active window, this will convert your cursor to the shape you describe as long as you're holding the space bar. Here I show you 7 Simple Steps to change your mouse cursor

Recently(since latest mini match 1.51.9.169) I have been seeing my normal desktop cursor plus the ignore cursor. Whenever I get into a battle the cursor is in the way of seeing clearly. I have tried to move it to the side of the screen, but whenever I check map, the cursor just moves again.

God i was just saying to myself when i posted that , " no doubt it wont show up on screen shot" . sounds like a small bug we may need to do a bug report, as on my Mac its fine at the moment strange , try pressing Function + F8 , i know that works for when im watching full screen movies and my mouse cursor wont disrepair

Seem this only happened after the patch was installed i think we should do a bug report on it, as i cant really think of anything, and cant replicate the issue on my mac even playing with mouse settings on my mac wont generate this. And nothing in the game config files i can see to change without doing some hefty editing.

there was a program back when i was trying things out when it wouldn't disrepair in full screen mode videos for me called cursorcer could try this in the mean time i guess. i didn't end up using it but worth a try i guess

Ah ok awesome, well i would not of thought after the patch you would need to update the Mac, i will go over the files that were updated and see what was changed, for my own personal curiosity but thank you very much for the feed back, will lock that one in my knowledge base.

A few weeks ago I suddenly started seeing my mouse cursor moving steadily from the left to right side of my monitors all by itself (a brand new 'amusement' provided for me by my PC; I never know what it's going to conjure up next!). It was still usable but went back to its trek across the screen when I left the mouse alone. Took a while to discover that it was caused by the X52 - if I unplug it and then back in again the cursor stops its movement. (I am talking about my main mouse here, not the cursor on the X52 itself).

I thought I'd solved it - it seemed to happen mostly if I woke the PC up from standby mode. But now it happens on and off (not all the time, thank god) for apparently no reason at all. I simply have to unplug the X52 and then plug it back in again.

I love the hardware but I am really fed up with Saitek's software! I can't use USB3.0 on this PC as the Saitek software kept causing BSODs with the Intel USB controllers (a known issue apparently), there always seems to be something! If I had $1 for every time I've had to reinstall the Saitek drivers... !

For me, it had been related to Saitek's programming software. I uninstalled it completely, and just used the latest Saitek drivers and FSUIPC for axis assignments and calibration and never had that problem again ever since.

I have never attempted to have FSUIPC (registered version) take over all my keyboard shortcuts and joystick controls. I have no idea how.. I'll have to look at the documentation but I recall that it is complicated??

I am still getting this behaviour. The folks at MadCatz have been quite good and are investigating - they have offered to replace the X52 for a new one, but I doubt that the hardware is the problem. (I can fortunately test this as I have two X52s and am going to swap them over today to see if the wandering cursor still occurs - little doubt that it will.

The problem with using FSUIPC is that some a/c don't like it. PMDG support have told me not to use FSUIPC to programme their MD-11 for instance, as it causes issues. I don't know if you'll come back to this thread Michael, but just to confirm, you uninstalled all the Saitek software and then only installed the drivers? I have a full setup of commands via the programming software and I envisage, if if it works with my PMDG etc. third party aircraft, it will be a nightmare to get everything working as it does with the Saitek software!

Have you tried to disable the Saitek mouse entry in the device manager? It appears as HID mouse there. Everything was fine here after I did that. I use no Saitek software but also no mappings from FSUIPC.

I have had an X52 for so long that if the button/key presses were any different from what they are now, I'd never get it right - it's instinctive. How do you 'programme;' the X52 to respond to chosen key presses with no programming software and no FSUIPC?

For my purposes I get along fine with the assignments of the keys through the sim itself. I understand that profiles and more sophisticated button programming requires either the Saitek software or FSUIPC. I tried FSUIPC and it works fine, I just didn't want to program all keys through it, being too lazy. A mix between in-sim and FSUIPC programming proved to be a bad idea.

I think I found the solution. By default in the software your mouse has several commands mapped so whenever you first download it will start moving it on the screen. To fix just go to the programming part of the app and unmap all of the ones that have to do with your mouse by right clicking it and select 'unprogrammed'

had the same problem with the X52 few years ago, had to stop using it because i didnt know what was goin on with it,ran out of warrenty just before it started conflicting with the mouse, pullin me hair out tryin to figure it out, until i read this post few days ago, so i installed the x52 drivers, disabled the HID complient mouse, and boom....works again..fantastic....

hey guys got an annoying problem i dont know what i did but its like my mouse cursor is off center in max, what i mean is when i go to select a polygon or edge it either wont select as if im not clicking on anything or it would select a completely different edge and polygon (e.g to the left of the one im clicking or above it) same with like using the move tool i can just click the arrows(axis) i have to move my mouse until it thinks im over the axis i want. i asked on a reddit and got no where

If you haven't already figured this out, save your work and Reset Max and see if mouse behavior is restored to normal in a fresh scene. From time to time I get similar bugs creeping in where I can no longer select vertices on any mesh in a scene all of a sudden. Usually "Reset", or sometimes exiting and then restarting max sets things back to normal.

Yep I tried this pretty much started to happen after I finished the model and started uving about half way through it started become a pain to select uvs and when I wanted to edit the model what I described above started to happen if I start on a new scene it's fine I tried exiting and reopen tried reset it doesn't change anything

Yep, I have had something similar happen to me. What I have found is that converting the mesh to an Editable mesh and then back to an editable poly seems to often fix the problem for me. You may have also seen suggestions on forums to export as an .obj and then re-import which works sometimes also. Interestingly, the export and re-import to .obj results in converting the object to an editable mesh unless you specifically check "import as Editable poly" in the import dialogue. In any case, try the conversion to an editable mesh and see if that works for you.

Also, going into subobject mode in the editable poly and "Unhiding All" will reveal any hidden vertices/polys which may have been created during the modeling process and can affect viewport selection. So do that first if you haven't already and then you can put an edit mesh modifier on the stack (or just convert to editable mesh if you don't have a stack you want to preserve) and see if you are able to select the verts. (Note: You can also Unhide vertices and polys from within the Edit Mesh modifier. )

Hi Andrew. If I understand what you are saying, this may in fact be normal. Many cockpit dials have more than one function. They can turn clock and anti-clockwise and some can also be pushed like a button. On those type knobs, when the cursor is slightly to the left, a mouse click turns the dial anti-clockwise. And the opposite is true when the cursor is placed to the right of the knob. The telltale hint here is the shape of the cursor changing when you place it in these different positions.

Recent occurrences. While in airline cockpit view my mouse cursor flickers sporatically and I cannot operate switches. The mouse cursor works fine outside the cockpit. Same occurrence in 747, A320 and 787. Have messed with mouse sensitivity settings and such with no luck solving the flickering.
