I wanted to thank all of you so very much for making my first acting experience such a sincere joy for me and my family. I hope you know how appreciative I am for the chance to meet and get to know you all, as well as enjoying your acting talents in such an amazing and "quirky" play! Especially, thank you Sujit for your writing, your creative wit and your wonderful directive talents. Heaven knows I need it. :-)

Sujit - I would also like to thank you for this wonderful opportunity to do some acting work. I don't know if I did sufficient justice to the Shukla character you created out of your imagination, but I gave it my best shot. You may not realize this, but the first month of rehearsal was indeed very very tough and tense for me. At one point I even thought I would be the next person to follow Satish out the door after him! Thank you for having more confidence in me than I had for myself. It felt like I was re-experiencing my old college exam finals! (Ask my kids, and they will tell you all about it.)

Thanks to Rajiv too, for paying attention to my not so trivial deficiencies, and making attempts to rectify them. I hope I justified his efforts eventually - Volume, Slow, Clear, ...

It was a great pleasure to act in this wonderfully scripted play by Sujit. I often kept wondering about alternate lines in place of what he had, but was left with the impression that his choice of words and sentence was perhaps the best one could do! I would really like to see this script see the light of day on a movie screen! It would make a great movie, and perhaps some of those subplots we joked about for DISF -2 could find its way into the movie version of DISF-1 itself as embellishments. 

Thanks to Asheesh and his crew for putting up a wonderful set and props, and to Sharvari for bringing to life(I am taking poetic license here) the white-guy plastic dummy we originally had for Naveen.  It became apparent to all of my friends who were first-time 'Naatakers', if I may say so, that the motley amateur crew of Naatak mean real serious business when it comes to staging plays. And the cow! What a brilliant stroke of idea from Sujit! 

Hats off to Sujit, Asheesh, the production crew and the rest of the cast for pulling off a great show. It was indeed a privilege and honor to have been a part of this team. 

And contrary to what some or many of you may think(Rajiv?), I do indeed plan to get involved in more acting assignments, either with Naatak or elsewhere. It's in my blood now!

safe travels sujit and divya with the kids...Benadyrl works.. Your kids may get addicted to OTC (over the counter) drugs...but it is worth it..for your sanity for the 22 hr plane ride. Coming from someone who had travelled with kids over the last 25 years...and yes they are Rush limbaugh now..Addicted!

It  was a pleasure to work with all of you..Vinata thanks for making it work seamlessly.  Maybe we will all work again together. So keep auditioning. If not for the powerhouse of talent you may be selected simply for your looks..

Thanks to the production crew for creating a beautiful set reminiscent of Pac heights..For the food. And for the cow... Daisy. This is the first time that an animal who did not have a single line stole the show. And for the corpse who looked every bit the part was second to none.

Pretty much everyone who saw the play (my friends) said it was  a true ensemble play - ie we came together as a group and looked like we were having fun. best compliment. And yes the cow....I was not a believer but the cow did it.

As for me : For no reason I am walking at full speed in my own house even to get a glass of water....and talking really slow and loud at work. No pauses. Sometimes I take a breath mostly when I forget what it is I have to say.

Phil  I will be there to hear you on Friday night and plan our getaway.

OMG! All I am thinking about since this morning is the fun I had at Naatak with the amazing cast and crew company! Everyone put up a great show.

Thank you so much Sujit for offering me the 'Press scene' I had lot of fun and it was very exciting and quite a learning experience for me! This was my first time participating in something like this in the US. I was amazed at the seriousness and dedication all of you showed throughout! 

Asheesh, Alka and your team, I have no words!!, you guys pay attention to each little detail , and make sure everything is perfect. I got to know what 'production' really means when I saw u guys doing it!! Awesome

Hello!

Just wanted to thank Anvitaben and Jyotinbhai for hosting the party. Nischal and I got a chance to meet everyone that Mummy had been talking about for the last few months and actually give faces to these names!

Mummy has had the time of her life and memories to last her a life time! She would come back from rehearsals and be so energized and wired, it was fun to see! I think after the first show, with all the clapping and the realization that she had performed on stage, her face was so dazed, like she was still in a dream!! Taking pictures with Zakir Hussain, all the people that came to meet her post each play, all the pictures that were taken, all the compliments she got, lately, that's all she's been able to talk about! It's such a wonderful experience for her. And it's all thanks to all of you!

Sujit, thanks for giving her a chance and working with her so gently and respectfully. Ranjita and Sharvari, you guys will never know how much we appreciated the rides you gave her, even late at night post a long day of work and then rehearsal when I am sure, all you wanted to do was go home and rest! With two little ones in the house we were more than grateful for your willingness to go out of the way to drop mummy off! I didn't come for as many practices as I would have liked, but I noticed members of the cast doing little things for mummy, warning her that her part was coming up, helping her with getting ready to get out on stage, making sure she had help getting up from the stool in the last scene. Without these thoughtful gestures I am sure the experience would have been very different for her.

She is very keen to be in touch with all of you and keep the magic going! :) So do call, email, drop by, be in touch! We'd all love to see you!

Mummy wanted me to write this. She dictated and I translated and typed. So excuse the english. Have put her words in quotations.

She says at the time of auditioning she learned her lines and came. But she forgot her lines even though she had practiced. And she thought she blew the audition. But Sujit told her "lightly" that it's alright, most people forget their lines the first time. So she felt better and came back with a renewed determination to try her best to do well. She says everyone gave her direction and help and support through her learning process. She felt supported and felt like the cast was her family having fun and enjoying themselves. She thanks everyone, says she had fun and will miss everyone. In the future if she gets a chance to act again, or to meet everyone again, she will be very happy.

She thanks Asheesh and his team and everyone who gave her rides. She says people gave her rides as though it was their duty to do it!! She was touched by everyone's care.

That's all she wants to say! :)
