Mr Obioha, you have succinctly put the grievances in your last post.
Having lost confidence in the current executive, in my view the option is to have a caretaker committee set up which shall organise elections to all offices in a true democratic manner. Perhaps all nominees to post should have their characters checked before consideration for elections. None of the current executive members should be nominated as they have not delivered to the satisfaction of the house when given the chance. Being elected to offices should be seen as a privilege and elected members shall swear to abide by the constitution of the association.
As par the allegations of financial misappropriation, I suggest that any check or auditing should be done in-house so as not to display our dirty linen in the public arena. If there is any confirmed wrong-doing, there should be restitution.
When our association is established on good footing, programs aimed at empowering ourselves shall form part of our activities; and we shall look at ways to be our brothers and sisters keepers without reference to past deeds and misdismeanour on the part of any member. The essence of all this discourse is to move our association forward and not a way to shoot anyone down. Afterall, to err is human and to forgive is divine.
My own point is that we cannot continue in an old way that is not working. We have to change the direction the association is moving if we are sincere with ourselves.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ahead. May the coming year bring us abundant joy, peace, good health, and prosperity. AMEN.
Sincerely,
Akadri Ajiboye Alarape
