Greetings all,

Some of you may have noticed that the Latin American Registry has been
rather stagnant the last 2 years or so. In fact due to some server
reconfiguration back then I lost the ability to approve updates and
manage the site, which I have just recently regained. So, I approved a
fair number of join and update requests, some of which had been
pending for 2 years! I am sorry about that, but I think the site will
now be fully functional.

If you haven't visited the site before, remember it was created back
in 2002, so it certainly doesn't look like Facebook, etc. But, I think
the information is still useful, and I know people have consulted it
for writing papers and so on, particularly about NLP in Latin America.
So, if you joined long ago you may want to check out the site again,
or even encourage others to look or join.

Cordially,
Ted

Hi Ted,

Looks like some records have been scrambled. If you go to to what is supposedly my entry:

One of the links is dead and thge other point to a colombian student (I guess by this time he has graduated):

Manrique Losada, Bell

Best regards

Hi Carlos,

Ouch! Thank you for pointing this out. I think a few records may have been scrambled due to the long pending wait time to make additions and updates, although I'm not certain. There doesn't seem to be an obvious solution to this, other than deleting your record and asking you to re-join as a new member. I am sorry about that. I did some random spot checks and didn't see this type of problem elsewhere, but certainly it would be good if folks could look at their entries and try let me know if they see a similar issue!

Thanks,
Ted

Thank you! Apparently our university system is having some trouble
this morning. I'll let you know when it is back up (this is not
specific to the registry).

Our university system appears to be back up and running. I've created
a shorter URL for the Registry which might be more convenient to use,
as in some cases I think the longer form is "broken" in email.

The following will take you to the Latin American Registry...

http://tinyurl.com/laregistry
