One of the groups worked on CII's advocacy. This summit should be of
interest to you. those interested in organising such events in future may
pay attention to the framing of the debate and wording of the invite.

Dear Sir,

Sustainability Summit: Asia 2007
‘Partnerships for Action’
11-12 December 2007: ITC Hotel Maurya, New Delhi

Sustainability is a multifaceted challenge for India in its path to
development. Due to high population density and India’s rapidly growing
economy there are unprecedented pressures on the environment and natural
resources.

An added challenge for India is that its economic growth must be inclusive
and reach out to people living on the edge. With 75% of the nations poor
residing in rural India, there needs to be an emphasis on generating
sustainable livelihoods. Such a challenge calls for robust
multi-stakeholder partnerships, increased capacity and accountability of
stakeholders, good environmental performance and deployment of India’s
human capital.

With this backdrop, the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable
Development and Development Alternatives have embarked on an annual
Sustainability Summit to create an enabling platform for stakeholders in
Asia and other parts of the world. The primary goal of the 2nd
Sustainability Summit: Asia 2007 is to foster Partnerships for Action.
Partnerships forged among business, civil society and governments during
and after the event will enable scaling-up of promising initiatives to
chart the way forward for a sustainable tomorrow. The focus themes this
year are:

Linking Farmers to Markets Fostering Inclusive Growth
