About the Host:
Dr. Vu Pham is the founder and head of Spectrum Knowledge, Inc., a research, consulting and training organization. He currently serves as a Researcher in the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine, as well as the Asian American Studies Center at the University of California, Los Angeles. Previously, he held a Research Fellow position through the University of California Office of the President. He has been featured on national and international multimedia venues, such as CNN, MSNBC, Voice of America, The Los Angeles Times, KSCI International Television, Asian Week, Radio Free Asia, The Orange County Register. His experience includes having worked with companies as large as those from the Fortune 500 to those in governmental and non-profit sectors. Having completed his doctoral degree from Cornell University, Dr. Pham's specialties include the areas of culture, organizational development and leadership.
About the Speakers:
Louis Song, Proven Inc (Managing Partner). Louis is a founding member of PROVEN and has more than 20 years of professional experience ranging from Information Systems Analysis to Technology Recruiting to building and managing high performing sales teams and operations. Previously, Louis was the managing director for a national staffing company where he managed a team of more than 20 people generating $15M/year. Louis graduated from the American University in Washington, D.C. with a BA in Psychology and is active in local business and community organizations. He is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Board of the San Diego Asian Film Foundation (www.sdaff.org).
Jimmy Thai, VP of SAIC (Vice President). Jimmy tried to escape Vietnam 15 times and was captured twice before coming to America with empty hands knowing only one English word. Today, Jimmy holds M.B.A. and M.S.E.E. degrees from the California State M.B.A. and M.S.E.E. degrees from the California State University and a B.S.E.E. from the University of California. He also graduated from the Defense Systems Management College and the Federal Executive Institute. In addition, he teaches systems engineering courses at SAIC University. He now servers as Vice-president for Science and Technology, is an award-winning program manager for the Tsunami-Warning Systems program office with SAIC. He has 18 years of experience in systems engineering and program execution, specializing in disciplined processes and high performance organizations in both commercial and defense acquisition. His technical expertise includes RF applications, undersea surveillance, military and commercial SATCOM, and anti-terrorism force protection.
Kim-Thoa Hoang (Deputy District Attorney). Kim is a prosecutor and a graduate of California Western School of Law. She is the first deputy district attorney of Asian heritage in the history of the San Diego County District Attorney's Office to have been appointed to the position of division chief. She is a committed advocate in the areas of student outreach, community building, and voter participation in San Diego.
