Beyond Productions / Gawad Kalinga / NAAAP San Diego
On Saturday evening, September 18, 2010, Beyond Productions and NAAAP San Diego will be presenting the second annual “Shanghai Nights – A Charity Casino Event,” this time, benefiting Gawad Kalinga, a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization that builds communities from the ground up, with the focus of providing land for the landless, homes for the homeless, and food for the hungry to empower those in need to be self-sufficient.
Gawad Kalinga (GK) (www.gk1world.com), meaning ‘to give care’ in Tagalog, is an organization that provides an alternative solution to the blatant problem of poverty in the Philippines and other parts of the world. While there are other non-government organizations that solely target poverty eradication, GK provides much more than just a house, but a self-sustaining community that has components such as education, healthcare, green and sustainable farming methods, and the tools to provide upward mobility.
Beyond Productions (www.bpsandiego.org): A not-for-profit San Diego community group dedicated to assisting non-profits with event planning and promotion. We use our experience, passion, and networks to amplify the voices of those helping to overcome challenges for the Asian community.
