With the strategy workshops commencing tonight (16/5/06), it seems like
a good opportunity to spark off some debate on what our objectives as a
club, or as a group of members if you like, should be over the next
five years or so.

When we hear talk of club development, most think immediately of the
physical clubhouse redevelopment that has been a big priority over the
past five years, of which we can all be proud as it has become a
reality. But the new physical facilities are merely a springboard for
the core activities of the club on the field and in the court mainly,
but also off the field when one considers the various social and
cultural activities.

Luckily the core activities at Na Fianna are booming over the past 10
years. A number stand out - the explosion in the volume and quality of
juvenile activity with nearly 1000 children on the registration books
is significant - the 3 Dublin senior football championships 1999-2001 -
the emergence of ladies football - the resurgence in hurling - the
hugely popular Summer Camps - the ever-growing Mini-leagues - our first
full-time club coach - an increased number of Na Fianna players
representing Dublin in all codes.

And yet it seems that there is so much scope for more progress - access
to pitch facilities for over 50 teams training sessions and matches is
a significant challenge at a time when land prices are at an all-time
high - lifting the bar in terms of coaching standards and
player-centred development programmes - are minors smoothly progressing
to adult teams in a managed way? ...

Feel free to contribute your own ideas and thoughts on this forum, or
better still at the facilitated strategy workshop starting tongiht at
8pm in the club.
