Chapter 1: The Old Shack
One spring day, four boys named Brad, Todd, Roger, and Fox were
walking home from school. All four Boys lived in the same
neighborhood, except Fox, who lived a very large house in a more
refined neighborhood.
All four boys slowly walked down the sidewalk, talking about the
events that occurred at school and basically taking their time walking
home. To these boys it seemed like a normal spring day, but what they
didn't notice was that in one small decision, that was all going to
change. They stopped in front of a lot which looked as if it had not
been cared for in a long time. Hidden by tall weeds and two pine stood
an old brick shack.
The shack was once owned by Milford Grey, who was a serial
killer. According to legend in nineteen-fifty-five Milford was sitting
in that old shack and when a relative came to deliver some food,
notice he was not there. The Television was on and a TV dinner that
was now cold sat on a TV tray by the chair in front of the TV. Milford
Grey had mysteriously disappeared. The house since that time hand been
barren and empty, and no one dare would entered it, for fear that they
too might disappear.
"Hey, want to go explore that old shack?" asked Brad pointing
toward the old shack which was barely visible. "Why not we could waste
some time" said Roger, brushing his hair with his hand to get it out
of his eyes.
"Well, what time do you guys have to back?" asked Fox looking at
his watch. "Four-thirty, isn't it four-thirty when you guys eat?"
asked Roger. "Yeah, so we've got sometime to check it out." replied
Todd pulling an old watch out of his pocket. "Well, what are you guys
waiting for, let's go" said Brad as he started to make his way through
the tall weeds. "Hey Brad, Wait up!!!" said the other boys as they
followed Brad into the dead vegetation.
They shortly arrived at what looked like a house made of cinder
blocks. All the windows were busted out and the front door was gone.
They stood in open doorway peering into the semi-lit room, what appear
to be the kitchen. "This place sure smells" said Todd holding his
nose. "Well, let's go in" said Brad stepping lightly into the house,
followed by the other boys.
The kitchen had a red painted concrete floor and a metal card
table sat in the middle of the room. A metal refrigerator sat near the
sink, and was covered in rust, while the stainless steel sink was
covered with mildew and dirt. Bugs skimmed across the counter-top and
across the floor as the boys took some small flashlights out of their
backpacks, and shined their light in every direction.
They walked into the next room, were the smell of mildew overwhelmed
them.
"Oh god guys this place stinks" said Fox placing a hankie over his
noise. "Well keep going" said Brad as he continued on to the next
room.
The boys went room to room looking through the boxes of junk that were
left there a long time ago, some of it was good and some of it was
ruin by the age of time. They shortly came to the last room, which at
one time was the garage.
The garage was filled with an assortment of car parts and junk. On one
side of the room, was a small broken window that sat high above a
wooden tool bench.
"Fox, go keep watch, to make sure no one is coming" said Roger
pointing toward the broken window. So Fox climbed on the wooden tool
bench and began to peer out the broken window, unable to see much due
to the tall weeds.
Going through the boxes the boys found a lot of neat junk for
their clubhouse. Fox peered inward to see what the boys found, unaware
of the blue car slowly making its way through the tall weed. Peered
backed out the window he was astonished that a blue car had pulled up
to the house and four men with guns exited the vehicle.
"Oh, crap guys" said Fox scared and dunking away from the window
"What, what is it?" asked the boys puzzled "A car just pulled up to
the house" said Fox "What!!" said Roger walking over to the window
"Let me see" said Todd pulling Fox off the table. Todd and Roger
looked out the window and notice the four men, and especially noticed
that they were carrying guns. "Oh great, they've got guns!" exclaimed
Roger "Well quick out the window" said Todd "No, they will see us"
said Brad "What are we going to do Brad?" asked Todd "I got an idea,
when they come in, we will sneak out the window that way they won't
see us" said Brad "Good Idea Brad, but where are going to hide?" asked
Roger. "I know how about we hide behind that big pile of tires" said
Fox point toward a pile of tires, on the other side of the room. "Good
idea Fox" said Brad. The boys walked quietly to the tires and hide
behind them.
"Well Winston how much did we get in cash" asked the short plump
man with a mustache as he sat his gun on the table. "Well mate, I
haven't had the chance to count it" said Winston placing a big black
bag on the table "Well Winston you better count the money" said a tall
man who was sucking on a cigar "OK Bob" said Winston sitting down in
one of the old rusty chairs. "I don't know mate, I think this going to
take all night" said Winston as he started counting at one. "Well
Winston just counts the money, and you better not call me Francis
either." said Frank as he waved his pointer finger at Winston.
"Hey Phoenix, you better keep watch, in case the cops show up" said
Bob. "Yeah right, you would look for in a dump like this" said Phoenix
walking over toward the broken window in the living room. "Better yet,
maybe we should check this place out before we do anything" said Bob.
"Well, who, in the hell would be a place like this mate" said Winston
in a bad Australian accent. "You never know" said Bob who got up out
of his chair and began walking into the living room. Bob, who was the
leader of this gang, was followed by Frank, the muscle of the gang and
then Winston, the not so intelligent one of the group. Phoenix stayed
in the living room looking out for the cops.
The men went room to room, doing what the boys were doing earlier,
looking through the junk. In the garage area Fox was starting to get
scared.
"Crap guys those guys seemed to be heading this way" said Fox looking
scared.
"Forget about it Fox, they won't find us" said Brad trying to claim
Fox down.
"The heck with guys, I leaving" said Fox heading toward the window "No
Fox wait, get back here" said Todd trying to get Fox to come back.
A loud bang filled the room as Fox laid on the floor grasping his
ankle. "Oww, ohhh" said Fox rubbing his ankle. The boys had forgotten
to move the coffee cans that they were looking through earlier, and
now it seems it might have attracted the four men. "Oh great he
tripped" said the Todd "We better get out of here" said Roger and all
three boys headed toward the window, while Fox still remained on the
floor tending to his ankle. The three men walked in as the last of the
three boys jumped out the window and Fox was trying to crawl toward
the window.
Frank and Bob grab Fox and sit him on a wooden chair. "What the hell
you doing in here boy" asked Frank, but remained silent. "What about
the others?" asked Winston looking out the window and noticed the
other three boys heading toward the woods. "Tie him up, I bet you
anything his little friends will be back for him" said Bob as the
other two men tied Fox to the chair in the middle of room
"Oh, I see we'll use him as bate" said Frank tying the rope into a
tight knot. "You got it, we aren't going to let these little punks run
to the police and tell them where we are at. They be back I know it"
said Bob lighting a cigar up and walking back to the kitchen.
The three boys ran into the woods, passing what appeared to be old
farm equipment. They slide down into a gully, which was filled with
trash and an old outhouse.
"Great, they got Fox" said Brad trying to catch his breath. "Well
let’s go!" said Todd who also was out of breath from running. "What,
go back and rescue him?" asked Roger "Oh hell no, lets go before they
give him back!!" said Todd walking away from the boys "No, we need to
go back and rescue him" said Brad pulling on his brother Todd's shirt.
Chapter Two: The Chase
After talking for an hour the four boys decide to go and save
their friend. The sat in the woods and waited until the sun went down
a little more before they rescued their friend, that way they could
hide in the shadows of the woods. Another hour passed and the boys
made their way back to old shack to see where the four men had stashed
their friend. To their surprise Fox was still tied to the old wooden
chair in the garage.
Brad climbed through the broken window and slowly creeping over to
where Fox was. Winston sat in a chair on the other side of the room
asleep, while the other three men arguing on what they should do with
Fox. Brad untied Fox and they slowly made their way across the room.
The got to the table and Brad jump out first, followed by Fox, who as
he climbed out hit large metal pipe which crashed onto the floor.
Winston woke up and the three other men entered into the room, but by
that time it was too late, the boys had fled toward the woods.
Bob and Phoenix looked out the window and noticed all four boys
heading to the woods. "We have to get those punks, they know are
plans" said Bob. The four men ran out the front door and headed after
the four boys who by that time had jumped back into the gully.
"Guys, we need to hide somewhere" said Roger "But where??" said
Todd "No we will wait down here until they pass and head back to the
road" said Brad "Um Brad, I think they will find us down here" said
Roger "Hey, how about we hide in there" said Fox pointing toward the
outhouse, which was covered in shrubbery "That old place" said Todd
"It's better then nothing" said Roger walking over to the outhouse.
It was a wooden structure, with the wood dark and worn. It had
what appeared to be an old house door on it, probably the one from the
old shack and a roof that slanted toward the back. Roger opened the
door and the boys peered into the outhouse. Inside instead of a small
room with two seats in it, there was a semi-long hallway. "What the
heck?" said Brad and the four boys walked into a brightly lit, semi-
long hallway. They closed the door behind them, and walk down the hall
were they came to another door.
"I wonder were this goes?" asked Roger "Well let's find out" said
Brad as he opened the door. The door flung open into a big room that
looked like a control room. In the middle of the room was a huge
control panel and by the door the boys had opened stood two huge
computer banks. In the front of the room was a small room, and on the
other side of the room was an open doorway leading to another hall. In
the back of the room was a door and on the control panel that sat in
the middle of the room was a small box.
"What is this place??" asked Todd "Don't know, let's look around
and don't touch anything" said Roger "Fox you good at this type of
stuff, what is this stuff?" asked Brad "Don't really know off hand,
but I got a hunch" said Fox
"See that little room there" said Fox pointing toward the small
open room in the front of the big room. "Yeah" said Roger "I think
that teleport" said Fox "And how do you know that?" smirked Todd "You
apparently don't watch Science Fiction." said Fox "Ok if you’re SO
smart, how can this room be inside that outhouse?" asked Todd "Simple,
this room is in another dimension. We walked through the door crossing
over from our three dimensional plane onto this fourth dimensional
plane." said Fox "Oh right" said Roger. "I wonder were that door
goes?" said Brad "It probably goes back out" said Roger.
Brad went to the door and opened it up and behind the door was a
long hallway with doors on both sides. At the same time Brad had
opened the door, Todd opened the box that was sitting on the control
panel and inside were four bracelets "Look at this" said Todd holding
up one of the bracelets "See teleport bracelets" said Fox with a smile
on his face. "Well maybe we should take them just in case" said Roger.
So the four boys each put a bracelet on.
Frank, Winston, Bob and Phoenix ran by the gully where the
outhouse was, and where the boys were hiding. The four men thought
that the boys were trying to make their way to the road through the
park, on the other side of the forest.
Near the door that the boys had opened leading to the long hallway,
sat a wooden book case and Fox grabs a book off the shelf and began
reading it. It was the journey of Milford Grey, who had disappeared
long ago. Inside the book, it told how the every thing inside the
control room worked and about the many rooms inside the outhouse.
Arriving at park, the four men didn't see the boys they were
chasing and decide to double back, figuring that's what the boys must
have done. The four men walked back through the woods and came to the
gully and climbed down in it. They noticed the boy’s foot prints and
saw the outhouse. Bob covered his lips with a finger to signal to the
others to be quiet so they could seek up on the boys. Bob opened the
door and they saw a long semi-long hallway, and in the distance the
four men could hear the boys talking. So they walked down the hall
and peered into the big room where the boys were standing there and
talking. “There you are!” said Winston and the boys turned and noticed
the four men heading toward them. The boys took off down the hallway,
which had doors on either side, as they quickly ran by. They shortly
arrived at a tee, that had a hall going straight, a hall going right
and on the left side of them were two doors that looked like two
elevator doors. “Which way should be go?” asked Todd “That way” said
Roger pointing down the other hall on the right. The boys headed down
the other hallway, running as fast as they could, with the four men
not too far behind. “We need to hide” said Brad “Well let’s try on of
these doors” said Fox. So Brad grabbed a door knob and flung the door
open and the boys walked in and shut the door behind them.
The boys stood on a sandy cliff that over looked, what appeared
to be a sandpit. Below the small cliff stood a small set of trees,
with tall weed all around “Let’s hide down there” said Brad as he slid
down the hill with the three other boys following behind. Brad, Roger,
Todd and Fox sat there in the tall weeds, quiet and wait. The door at
the cliff suddenly opened and the four men came out. “Where did those
little brats go?” said Bob “Maybe they went back into the woods” said
Winston thinking they were back outside. So the four men headed back
toward the forest that was in the distance thinking that was the
forest that the outhouse was in.
After the four men were out of sight, Brad, Fox, Todd and Roger
climbed back the hill and returned to the hallway. “We need to keep
moving” said Brad and they started to run down the hall again. The
boys ran down the hall, deeper and deeper into this huge maze of
hallways and rooms, unaware that they were going the wrong way and
that they were getting lost.
