SSH Key Authentication

Hi,
Been trying to get n2hell working with my SSH key setup.
I link it to my private key and enter the password for it - but
whenever I try to connect all I get is "public key authentication
failed" .. looking in the auth.log on the server it looks like it is
trying to authenticate as the wrong user:
sshd[4822]: Invalid user from <ip>
The only user I have added is the one that corresponds to the relevant
unix account - and the setup works fine in e.g putty.
Anyone seen anything similiar?
