Hello everybody! I am a teacher and researcher who has worked
extensively in the field of Islamic music and arts (Literature,
Music, Visual Arts, Story-telling, Drama, and movement). I am a
Christian not a Muslim, but am committed to friendship, dialogue and
learning with the aim of enabling young Muslims to play their full
creative part in UK life. I have worked with Muslim artists
including Aa'shiq al Rasul, Khayaal Theatre Company, painter Shaheen
Ahmed etc.

I have written a chapter "Islamic Arts in the Curriculum" for a
recently published book "Every Muslim Child Matters" (published by
Trentham Books). The idea is to inform school teachers about how
they can use the arts of Islam in their teaching, clear away any
misunderstandings, and encourage them to (a) make contact with Muslim
artists and (b) invite them into school to work with their pupils

To disseminate this book, we are holding four conferences for
teachers and educationalists next March in different parts of the
UK. I will be leading workshops, and would like to encourage
teachers by giving them information about artists in their locality
and nation-wide - a Register of Muslim UK artists.

I am attaching the first draft of this Register:
