Although your VPN reroutes your internet connection through a private server and masks your IP address in the process, it still requires your internet connection to be active for it to work. Without this, it won't work. To help restore your internet connection:

Often, restarting software can get things running smoothly again. If your VPN has its own program, quit the program and restart it to see if that resolves the issue. If the VPN is a browser plug-in, close your browser down and restart it. If restarting doesn't address the problem, try reinstalling the VPN as an additional measure. This can help if a VPN is slow to connect, if it crashes frequently, or if the VPN connects to the client network but does not allow you to perform actions like opening links.

However, it is important to bear in mind that even when using HTTPS, a technically minded person can still find out which sites a user has sent requests to. This is because the domains within the request still remain visible. Kaspersky VPN utilizes advanced protocols to enable secure data transfers, which stops your personal information being revealed online without your consent, while maintaining fast speeds.

Why is the VPN not working with Netflix? If Netflix isn't working with your VPN, it could indicate that Netflix has banned your VPN server's IP address. Try switching to a streaming-optimized VPN or using a server in your country. You can also try deleting your browser cache and cookies to see if this solves the problem.

Running Windows 10 Pro. LO was 7.1.? and is now 7.2.3.2 Following sudden power failure LO loaded but would not open any files (notably Writer and Calc). I up-dated to current version rebooting several times without any improvement. Where do I go from here? Other programs including Firefox and Thunderbird are working normally.

If still unable to open files, I would hazard a guess that you have anti-ransomware enabled. Add soffice.bin to the list of allowed programs; if already there, remove it and OK then re-add it. See Defender Controlled folder access exception for LibreOffice - The Document Foundation Wiki .

Thank you, EarnestAl, for your efforts but I am still in trouble. First may I add an additional symptom:
None of the LO applications such as Calc and Writer will start from the LO initial window.
My security is provided by Kaspersky Total Security and that does not report anything so it has not intervened. The only Defender that Windows admits to having active is the Firewall. I have not installed any anti-ransomware program. I have done the following with checks of status between each.
Opened in Safe mode.
Updated to 7.2.4.1
Opened in Safe mode.
Looked for Defender settings
Looked at Kaspersky settings and reports.

GNK, Thank you for your suggestions.
I have mostly done a Windows Restart but I believe that at an early stage I did a true Stop and Start but I will do it again.
LO is not started at boot time.
That leaves me to try Uninstall and Install.
Done and sorted.
Many thanks

Add soffice.bin to the list of allowed programs/whitelist in Kapersky. If already there, remove it and OK then re-add it.
Note. During the adding procedure, you might need to navigate to C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program\ and start typing soffice.bin

have you done full power-off&reboot or win10 fakeboot (ie FastBoot / quick restart-thingy) ?
(check power-off buttons are not set to hibernate/sleep ?)
have you tried full uninstall of LO, not just update ? or a PortableLO version to check documents are not corrupt?
is LO set to run as service at system boot ?

From what I've been reading a person cannot delete the "com.kaspersky.kav.sysext.systemextension" unless a full reintall is done. Since Kaspersky was listed as security risk and was banned from government computers, I would like to ask if Apple could provide a solution for removing the file(s).

I don't know what your particular situation is, but the official Kaspersky uninstall should work fine. If you didn't follow the official procedures, then you can contact Kaspersky for support and they can walk you through those procedures I mentioned above.

Thank you for your quick reply. Of course, my mind goes toward the idea of a fox guarding the chicken coop - if the company is deemed a security risk, how can it be trusted to uninstall their software? But thank you for your honesty and I sure the complications of anything political, financial, and the threat of law can limit your official response.

As for uninstalling being complete, that's always a reasonable concern and rare is any uninstall that is actually complete, but if one is, its probably the developers own uninstaller or a security companies removal tool. Launch Kaspersky and click on "help" "support" "uninstall". If you don't want to launch Kaspersky the uninstaller usually resides at /Library/Application Support/Kaspersky Lab/KAV/Applications/Kaspersky Uninstaller.app

Interesting. I tend to remove Kaspersky before each OS update and in the past that extension was removed as soon as I restarted the system after running the Kaspersky uninstaller. Its actually MacOS that installs and uninstalls extensions like that as they are on the SIP read-only side. installers and uninstallers just stage the extension and request the OS put it where it goes or remove it during next reboot.

On a modern Mac, launch it in restore mode by holding the power button longer on Apple silicon or holding a fancy keystroke on an intel machine, do what is required to get far enough in to launch the utility "Terminal" from the restore side menu bar. "csrutil" which on the restore side will launch the manual for the command. Personally I suggest ALWAYS reading the manual for the command by typing just the command from the restore environment or if booted normally by typing "man WhateverCommandSomeoneIsSuggesting". Unix commands are obedient and do what you told them to do for good or ill.

anyway you would end up if determined rebooting into restore, sticking in passwords, launching terminal typing in the "csrutil" command and one space then "disable", press return, type y for yes after you read warning, put in password...

Once rebooted normally, navigate to the extension, delete it which is straightforward now but if needed you can escalate yourself to root or sudo permissions and whalla, with very rare exceptions whatever you wanted gone is gone even if the results are catastrophic.

I don't know if the extension has dependencies or dependents nor if when it doesn't uninstall after running uninstall and rebooting has already done everything else and the OS hangs instead of removing it or if some less easily fixable thing is happening.

REBOOT into the restore side, launch terminal type in "csrutil" and read about the command, then if desired and I personally believe it's of paramount importance, type "csrutil enable". do the y or n thing and put in password. Be thorough type "csrutil status" into Terminal after rebooting and logging in normally and confirm it is in the state you want it which should nearly always be "enabled". Personally I turn off the radios, aka blootooth and wifi before disabling sip and leave them off till it's re-enabled out of habit, no idea if it's a best practice.

I have downloaded the latest version but when you install it, it's placed in the program files directory. To try and get round this, in Adobe's installation folder, I replaced the 3 instances of 'node.exe' with the new version. Unfortunately, I don't believe this worked as I no longer see node.js running in task manager when I restart my PC.

I'd prefer to keep CC installed but considering the severity of cyber attacks that have been in the news over the past year, I'll have to uninstall it if no one knows of a fix. Any help would be much appreciated.

Michelleh96024108, which specific Adobe product or service is your inquiry in relation too? What version of Adobe software do you currently have installed? What operating system are you installing the Adobe software on?

It's in relation to Adobe Creative Cloud. The desktop application for it states it is the latest version. I am running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, which is also fully up-to-date. The 3 locations of the application Node.js: Server-side JavaScript (which is the bit that is out-of-date and I want to update) are:

Thank you for trying to help. My security software is up-to-date and working properly. A 'vulnerability' scan is different to a virus/malware scan; so node.exe isn't anything malicious or a false positive. It means it is known to be vulnerable to be exploited by hackers. It's a 3rd-party javascript that Adobe use and the creators of it issued a security update 2 months ago, on 28th March. Searching through these forums this issue has come up a few times throughout the years, usually spotted by people running Secunia PSI. Perhaps because this software is discontinued maybe why the issue has gone unnoticed.

Unfortunately I'll have to wait for adobe's security team to patch this if there's no solution that can be implemented at the user's end so in the mean time I will keep an eye out in the release notes as you suggested. Thanks again.

With mawarebytes it was so easy, cause malwarebytes has an exit mode and a disable startup with windows mode which completely disables it and actually refers protection back to windows defender. In this mode it's as if MWB is not installed at all and not interfering with the system in any way, i.e. there are no MWB processes running, the app is completely and truly closed.

I tend to need system restore as I beta test a lot of products for the audio community and I also muck about with certain registry tweaks and like to be able to go back to the system as it was if I need to.
