MyTracks isn't the only affected application, this is due to a defect in
current Android, see below, but a workaround is possible and would be
appreciated.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Pair the Polar HRM (H7 belt) with your phone, this works
2. Select it as the sensor to use
3. Check sensor status:

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: To get the same good connection as on my SGS2 with correct
readings.
Seeing: (slowly) repeated on sensor status: Connecting -> None

What version of MyTracks are you using? On what version of Android? On what
phone?
MyTracks 2.0.4
Android 4.2.2 (Build JDQ39)
Phone: Nexus 4

Sorry, we currently only support Polar Wearlink Bluetooth HRM.

The Polar HRM (H7) might have a different messaging format in additional to
different bluetooth profile. We would need help from Polar to support H7.

Arg, just rechecked at home, since you said the H7 probably has a different
protocol.
I actually have the Polar Wearlink Bluetooth HRM, not the H7 (which I
somehow thought was just the name of my HRM in the US, not realizing those
are two different things).

Could you please reopen? Because the Wearlink doesn't work with my N4 while
it works with my SGS2 (or at least used to work under ICS, haven't yet
tried since the upgrade to JB).

I tested My Tracks with a Polar Wearlink on a Nexus 4 running Android
version 4.2.2. Everything seems to work. I am able to get the heart rate in
the sensor state page.

Wondering if you can confirm if you are still having trouble using the
Polar Wearlink on a Nexus 4. If so, can you tell me the Android version you
are running, also the exact steps to help debug the problem.

I can confirm that I still have the problem. The weird thing is that it
works reliably if I first try to use it with BikeComputer Pro (3.14.1).

Android 4.2.2 Kernel 3.4.0-perf-g7ce11cd
MyTracks 2.0.5

When the wearlink HR sensor was disconnected from my phone for a day or so
(didn't really try to find the time limits, might be on any bluetooth
disconnect), it doesn't work. Same if I reboot my phone and try then in
MyTracks.
When I run BikeComputer Pro, it takes a couple of seconds to connect, but
then it works, even in MyTracks (obviously only if I first kill
BikeComputer Pro).

If I can help in any way to narrow down why it fails, I will.

Also note that it works fine on my Samsung Galaxy S2 (running ICS, would
need to chevk at home which version exactly) in both MyTracks and BC Pro.

Android 4.3 !!! it's out. Time to get on it! This being a Google Inc.
app and the only app Google makes that features anything Bluetooth it
should support Bluetooth 4.0 asap.

Regard #5, can you refile a new bug. To help us narrow down the cause,
please include the Android version and the phone model for the phones that
work and do not work with the Polar Wearlink.

Hi All,
I have N5 (4.4.4) and this morning I tried to use Polar H7 with MyTracks
and actually the application was failed to pick up the sensor.
However the Polar H7 has been paired with N5 without any problems.
I did check sensors status in the settings and Connecting -> None and the
rest fields were populated with dashes.
Sad story ...

Same here. H7 with nexus5 not working with mytracks. Other apps like polar
beat or runtastic work without problems. So this seems to be a limitation
of my tracks. What needs to be done to fix this?

Polar H7 and Mytracks app don't work together on my Nexus 5 (Android 5.0).
Same hardware with Runtastic app works fine.

Same issue here. Samsung note 3 with lollipop. H7 works with mapmyrun app
and polar app but no joy with my tracks.

I want to chart my heart rate against running speed and elevation. I might
ditch the H7 for ANT+ monitor to work around the issue....

Sorry to agree with My tracks & H7 problem, appl. doesn't recognize H7 .
Both, my Nexus 7 and HTC/Android mobile with Ghostracer and other
applications work fine with sensor Polar H7, btw. excellent sensor from
Polar. Why, why, why Google? My tracks and this Polar H7 should be goood
