Is anyone using the RSS feeds?

I'm testing out using  Wordpress and using the RSS feed widget to display feed. It's not listing the meetings in correct order.

Any suggestions?

The idea I'm working on is to try using wordpress for our main town site and then use MTG for meetings.

RSS feeds are in the order that the meetings are created or updated, not the order that they will be happening. They are really just a summary of the announcements you see in the History section of the site.

RSS cannot give meetings in chronological order, because that’s not what RSS was created for. It was created as a way to announce publication of articles as they are published.

A better fit for your application would be the calendar feed. There are wordpress plugins for those. This one seems to be most popular:

You can get the calendar feed from the left navigation column, right near where you got the RSS feed. Just click that, and the feed address and instructions appear on the right.

Funny..  I was ON the website for that plug-in when I received the message.

Unfortunately, it seems the current release does not work with my Wordpress version(latest).

Thanks Josh!

Hi Josh,

Not sure if this is the correct e mail addresses.  I was just adding something to my town govt. and noticed at the bottom that there is something about sharing it on facebook.  Wondering how that got there and how do I get it removed?!?!?  Immediatley?!?!

Thanks for your help.

All meetings have had facebook sharing links forever. The whole point of the site is to spread the word about meetings happening.

What is the problem with having this button, exactly? All it does is make it easier for facebook users to share links that they would otherwise have to share by copying/pasting URLs.

Morning,

This is the first time I have ever seen the facebook link.  Granted, we just had a firewall update so perhaps I could not see it before.  And I do not remember any discussion of adding it as a link.   My town has decided they do not want to have anything linked to or otherwise dealing with facebook, for a whole host of reasons.  We have gone round and round about facebook pages for individual boards, and really do not want it.  I understand there is a difference between a link and a page.
My simple question is, can it be removed from WT site?  If not, I will live with it.  But if it is at all possible, please do so.  Many thanks

It’s not a problem at all. I’ll add a setting at the town level that I can set up, to prevent showing social media links, and I’ll check it for your town.

It’s really silly, though, to make it hard to do something that people want to do, because it won’t keep them from doing it (sharing on social media), it will just annoy them.

But I’ll add the feature, because it sounds like this is more of an emotional issue than a logical one.

Many thanks!

I am working off the wishes of my town, at least those that have given me feed back.  If it changes, I will activate it.  But they do not want it, which is why I am asking.  Doesn't seem silly if that is what they want.

Again, many thanks for your help.
