I just tried out Mythdroid for the first time. However I experienced
some strange behaviour.

I am running a Desktop combined myth frontend/backend as well as a
netbook combined frontend/backend They are both on my home wifi
network. The netbook goes with me on camping trips etc and is what I
was hoping to control with MythDroid.

Although I configured Mythdroid to my Netbook IP address, Mythdroid
connected to my Desktop backend, and I could see all of my recorded
programs etc, however, it tried to play them back on my netbook
frontend, which then of course failed to play.

[Note: The Netbook has MDD installed but the desktop does not as I
have no need for Mythdroid for the desktop, as I use my ipad as a
mythtv remote control for this instead.]

I can see no references in my Mythdroid settings to my Desktop, so
not sure how it connects to my system, however it is "open" on my
internal 192.168.*.* network, so probably no real surprise.

Hi,

If you have configured a backend address in settings MythDroid should attempt to connect to that in the first instance. If that fails it will attempt to locate one via UPnP.

So, if you've set the "Backend Address" setting to that of your notebook, I assume that the connection to it is failing for some reason and it's then locating your Desktop backend via UPnP.. Check the device log to see what's going on and if you still have problems, attach it to a reply..

Regards,
