Hi there.

I believe I've set up mythdroid correctly.

I have MythTV 0.23.1 with one master backend. MDD is running as /usr/
bin/mdd.

I can view the recordings folder but when I try and view any recording
at any bitrate the 'Sorry, this video cannot be played' is shown on my
HTC Desire. This is the same for my Advent Vega tablet.

I've checked both the ffmpeg.out and vlc.out files and it looks like
ffmpeg is encoding correctly and there is output in the vlc.out file.
Both processes continue whilst the error message is shown on the
handset/tablet and ceases once I press the OK button.

Is there a particular version of ffmpeg and vlc that needs installing?
I've changed the mdd.pl encoding line to encode the audio as mp3
because the vlc.out was showing an error that the MPEG AAC encoder
wasn't found in ffmpeg. However, I still get the same error when
changing the acodec to mp4a.

Please help.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I had a similar problem with using ffmpeg straight from Ubuntu's
repository ( not sure what distro you're using ) - I fixed it by re-
installing ffmpeg from Medibuntu. I now have video w/sound working on
my captivate.

I still can't find the right transcode settings to get any video to
play on my Xoom or Droid X.... If anyone can help there let me know.

Hi Nick.

Yes I've managed to fix all the issues above by installing ffmpeg from
the Medibutu repository.

I also worked out that the issue with the stream to my Desire was
because I had Gingerbread installed (2.3.3) and RSTP streaming is
currently broken in this version. I downgraded back to Froyo (2.2.1)
and streaming works. However, I still can't get it to play at all on
my Advent Vega tablet.

However, on the Desire my audio is out of sync by about 1/2 second for
any video I play.

I would really love to get this working - any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mark

Hello Mark, Nick

I'm trying to setup mythdroid streaming to both my HTC desire and my
Notionink Adam.

When long pressing a recording and selecting "Here", I nicely get 3
options for the playback format:
video 448 Audio 128 (576kb/s)
video 320 Audio 96 (416kb/s)
video 192 Audio 64 (256kb/s)
After that it loads for a couple of seconds, and starts playing the
audio, but not the video. The screen stays black.
ffmpeg 4:0.6-2ubuntu6.1
libavcodec-extra-52 4:0.6-2ubuntu3.1+medibuntu1
libavcodec-unstripped-52 4:0.6-2ubuntu3.1+medibuntu1

(I can't find a medibuntu version of ffmpeg, is that correct?)

Have any of you got this to work? Any hints?

Regards,

Bert

Since 0.4.4 MDD does not use ffmpeg for demux/decode, so now VLC is
the only external program involved.

I have :). First thing to look at is the file /tmp/vlc.out after an
attempt at streaming. If the problem isn't obvious, attach the
contents of the file to a reply..

Regards,

Nick
